Job Description
This is work designing, developing, testing, documenting, implementing, and maintaining computer system applications.

 

Examples of Work Performed

Design, develop, test, document and implement computer system applications and reports.  Create and maintain application technical and user documentation. Maintain and support software applications.  Adhere to Project Management requirements as adopted by OIT. Meet OIT information technology standards.

Consult with staff members to provide technical information and guidance to assist in task/project completion; prepare reports as required.

Ensure compliance with applicable policies, procedures, regulations, and laws in the performance of technical tasks.

Ensure design and implementation procedures make use of appropriate information engineering principles under the ITIL framework as adopted by OIT.

Attend meetings, technical classes, workshops, seminars, or conferences to improve technical skills and knowledge. Perfect skills in use of application and database development tools.

Performs other duties as required.

 

Education and Training Guidelines
Education: Refers to job specific training and education that is recommended for entry into the position. 

Additional relevant experience may substitute for the recommended educational level on a year-for-year basis.

Bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science, management information systems, or a closely related field.

 

Experience: Refers to the amount of related work experience that is recommended for entry into the position that would result in reasonable expectation that the person can perform the required tasks.

Additional relevant education may substitute for the recommended experience on a year-for-year basis, excluding supervisory experience.

Two years of related experience.

 

Competencies
Knowledge of application design, development, testing, documentation, and implementation.

Knowledge of the concepts and theories of information systems.

Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of computer technology.

Knowledge of relational database design and database design tools.

Knowledge of SQL Server, including SQL Server Reporting Services (SSRS) and SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS.)

Knowledge of Oracle and PL/SQL.

Knowledge of Microsoft .Net and IIS.

Ability to use Microsoft Visual Studio and related development tools.

Ability to write HTML, JavaScript, C#.Net, ASP.Net and XML.

Knowledge of Active Directory authentication, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP) and File Transfer Protocol (FTP.)

Knowledge of Tableau reporting tools, including Tableau Desktop, Flows, and Prep.

Ability to analyze and organize.

Ability to analyze and interpret technical data.

Ability to design programs and systems.

Ability to think logically and solve problems.

Ability to evaluate and resolve user problems.

Ability to provide technical assistance in the area of computer systems analysis.

Ability to communicate technical information verbally and in writing.

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

Special Comments
Experience with Microsoft .Net, SQL Server, and Oracle database required.

Experience with Tableau reports preferred.
