<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Job Description

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">The Office of the State Courts Administrator is seeking an operations manager for the Innovations & Outreach Unit.  This is a unique and dynamic position that will provide analysis and advice that will impact and inform important areas of judicial branch policy decisions as well as assistance with the operational management of the unit.  The position directly supports the Judicial Management Council, the Workgroup on the Continuity of Court Operations and Proceedings During and After COVID-19, and the Florida Commission on Access to Civil Justice, and works in close consultation with the chief of the unit to accomplish unit goals.  While specific projects change depending on the unit’s assignments, the work currently includes court committee staffing and support; legal and policy research and analysis; and project management.

The ideal candidate for this position is an individual who has exceptional research, analytical, and writing skills and experience in the government sector with committee staffing and policy analysis and development.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:  <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Ability to use Microsoft Office products.  Ability to research case law, state and federal law, court rules of procedure, and legal reference material.  Knowledge and understanding of the structure and operations of the Florida judicial system.  Experience in staffing committees, workgroups, or other similar collaborative groups.  Ability to research, write, and edit court judicial branch publications and court committee reports.  Ability to apply legal principles and specialized knowledge to specific issues.  Ability to prepare and manage a budget. Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, orally and in writing.  Ability to work collaboratively with management staff.  Ability to manage multiple and complex projects.  Ability to work independently, to research and make recommendations on innovations and best practices for assigned projects, and to meet deadlines.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Education and Training Guidelines

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Education:  <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">A master’s degree in public policy, public administration, or a related field is required.  <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Juris doctorate degree strongly preferred.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Experience:  <span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Five <span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">years of work experience in the public sector and in the practice of law is preferred.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Additional relevant experience may substitute for the preferred experience on a year-for-year basis.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Licenses, Certifications, and Registrations Required:  <span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Membership in good standing in The Florida Bar is strongly preferred.

<span style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Equipment Usage:  Handles office machines, tools, equipment, or work aids involving some latitude for judgment regarding attainment of a standard or in selecting appropriate items, such as computers, peripherals, or software programs.

<span style="font-family:"Times New Roman",serif"><span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Safety of Others:  <span lang="EN" style="font-family:"Arial",sans-serif">Requires some responsibility for safety and health of others and/or for occasional enforcement of the standards of public safety or health.
