SPECIAL NOTES:

A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, economics, business management, or risk management and insurance or actuarial science and one (1) or more years of professional experience in accounting, examining, analyzing or auditing financial statements; or five (5) or more years of advanced knowledge obtained through professional experience in accounting, examining, analyzing or auditing financial statements is required.

Preference will be given to applicants with professional insurance experience.

Written exam will be required to evaluate insurance knowledge and skill in reading, comprehension, and application of the Florida Statutes.

The base annual salary for this position is $36,467.64

Work hours for this position will be Monday through Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m; 40 hour per week.

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment. 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of methods of compiling, organizing and analyzing financial data.

DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

Assist in the review and analysis of the financial condition and operating history of insurance companies for compliance with Florida Statutes.

Prepare and review with supervisor compliance spreadsheet.

Value securities in accordance with Florida Statutes.

Review statutory and special deposits.

Review corporate purchases and sales of securities.

Analyze investment earnings.

Analyze operational income and expense allocations.

Review mortgage loans for compliance with statutes.

Classify real estate owned and determine proper valuation in financial report.

Review and analyze other assets reported by company.

Determine non-admitted assets in accordance with Florida Statutes.

Analyze paid-in capital and surplus structure of company.

Analyze and interpret trends and make corrective action recommendations.

Review Consent Orders to determine compliance with stipulations specific to individual companies.

Organize and prepare memorandums, letters, and legal orders and complete checklists.

Assist in the review of charter documents and amendments thereto and check conformance to Florida Statutes.

Review management and control of companies to determine if consistent with charter documents.

Read and analyze minutes of meetings of corporate bodies.  Determine compliance with corporate structure.

Analyze various operating and financing agreements.

Analyze holding company statements.

Analyze acquisition/merger statements for compliance with Florida Statutes.

Review and analyze biographical statements and other supplemental information to determine if management is acceptable pursuant to Florida Statutes.

Analyze company’s underwriting practices and procedures.

Review and analyze reinsurance contracts in use or proposed by the company.

Determine authorization of reinsurer

Review adequacy of reinsurer’s security. 

Review and analyze financial examination findings and reports.

Review, analyze and interpret company plans of operations including proformas and assumptions.

Prepare worksheets to facilitate monitoring to identify in a timely manner companies that do not comply with Florida Laws and Regulations.

Assist in administering and providing for consumer information relating to the insurance industry in and outside of Florida.

Assist in the review of applications to do business in Florida.

Maintain liaison with company officials, attorneys, accountants, actuaries, members of company's board of directors and insurance department officials (including states other than Florida), when and as necessary.

Assist in any administrative matters deemed necessary by the Chief Financial Officer and/or Bureau Chief.

Performs other related work as required.
