This is an internal agency employment opportunity for current employees, including OPS, of the Department of Financial Services, the Office of Financial Regulation, and the Office of Insurance Regulation.

Requirements:

• Six (6) months or more experience in the Insurance field or adjusting liability claims.

Preferences:

• A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.
• Experience working with any risk management information system and/or any software programs designed to assist in the adjusting of property and liability claims.
• Six (6) months of experience with answering phone calls and providing information to callers.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

• Ability to investigate liability insurance claims. 
• Knowledge of good investigative techniques and knowledge of case law. 
• Ability to review and process provider bills. 
• Ability to use a 10-key adding machine. 
• Ability to enter, retrieve and maintain data in a computer system. 
• Ability to review and properly categorize insurance claims.
• Knowledge of the principles of risk management and insurance.
• Ability to make appropriate decisions about insurance claims.
• Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work activities.
• Ability to communicate verbally and in writing.
• Ability to establish effective working relationships with others.

SPECIAL NOTES:

This is a full-time position, requiring the following work schedule: Monday thru Friday, 8:00 – 5:00, with an hour lunch.

This position will be filled at $44,260.08 annually.

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This is a claim adjusting position. The primary duties and responsibilities of this position are to investigate, evaluate and resolve liability claims which are filed against the state and its employees.
