About the Role

 

The Florida Department of Health is seeking a dynamic and experienced Investigation Manager to lead the Consumer Services Unit within the Bureau of Enforcement. This leadership role is responsible for managing a team of professional and administrative staff engaged in regulatory investigations and compliance activities. As the Investigation Manager, you will oversee case assignments, evidence control, staff development, and inter-agency coordination. You will also play a key role in interpreting and implementing legislation, developing operational policies, and ensuring the integrity of investigative processes.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Direct and supervise the Consumer Services/Compliance Management unit operations and personnel, including hiring, training, evaluating, and performance management.
  • Develops and conducts intensive training programs for staff and advises staff on policy and procedural changes.
  • Assign and review investigative cases and ensure timely and accurate reporting.
  • Coordinate with local, state, and federal law enforcement on regulatory enforcement matters.
  • Analyzes proposed bills; proposals for new programs or organizational structures, continuation or expansion of present programs or organizational structures, continuation or expansion of current programs.
  • Creates and revises processes for the implementation of new legislation and programs and revisions to existing programs resulting from legislative changes in the Practice Acts and other laws or rules affecting the regulation of the profession.
  • Represent the department in public forums, hearings, and professional engagements.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable statutes, rules, and agency policies.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and investigative databases.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage complex investigations and make sound decisions.
  • Experience in conflict resolution, strategic planning, and team development.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex investigations within a criminal justice or regulatory framework.
  • Proven ability to lead and motivate teams, develop strategic initiatives, and manage cross-functional collaborations.
  • In-depth understanding of Florida statutes, Administrative codes, and Enforcement practices.
  • Experience serving as a spokesperson or in public relations capacities.
  • Experience in building relationships with government officials, health care professionals, and community stakeholders.
  • Proven ability to handle high-pressure situations and provide guidance during emergencies or complex enforcement cases.
  • A proactive approach to identifying areas for improvement and implementing best practices in enforcement and compliance.
  • High ethical standards and commitment to protecting the public through fair, consistent enforcement.

 

Qualifications:

  • Ten (10) years professional work experience in regulatory enforcement, investigations, or public health administration
  • Five (5) years of leadership experience in health care, regulatory compliance, enforcement, public health, or law enforcement; Four (4) years of which must have been in a supervisory/management capacity.
  • College education in public health, business administration, law, criminal justice, health care or a related field of study may substitute for the required experience on a year for year basis.
