POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Research and Statistics Manager this position participates actively in the management team of Criminal Justice Information Services, including consulting with the Director, Deputy Director, Bureau Chiefs, and other division leaders on the formulation of overall goals and objectives, policy and operational issues, and special projects. This position is responsible for supervising staff and incumbent spends the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training, and evaluating members while planning and directing their work. This position oversees the analysis team in the Florida Statistical Analysis Center and is responsible for the administration and resolution of management problems pertaining to the activities of the sub-section.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Formulating objectives by outlining goals, activities and special projects which are consistent with the sub-section, section and bureau overall objectives and mission, and conveys to sub-section members;
- Ensuring coordination with counterparts within the division and department with respect to work adjustments or procedural changes to ensure other areas are not adversely impacted;
- Mentoring and guiding members in developing work skills to better meet objectives by ensuring all new members receive training and support in their new positions;
- Ensuring members understand their responsibilities and providing regular and constructive feedback through performance evaluations and routine ongoing communication with members;
- Consulting with section supervisors and administrative staff to resolve programmatic, administrative, and operational issues and problems. Assessing/analyzing and making recommendations to resolve issues and problems within the bureau;
- Developing and recommending operational policies and assisting in the establishment of procedures and procedural manuals to implement policies, achieve operational objectives, or resolve operation problems;
- Providing research, analysis, and assimilation of information relative to laws, rules and regulations that directly or indirectly have an impact on the Florida Statistical Analysis Center;
- Preparing reports and responding to requests for data or assistance with current, accurate, understandable, and practical recommendations and information in a manner established by Department policy and in discussion with Research and Statistics Manager and the Bureau Chief; and
- Representing the sub-section, section, bureau or department in a professional manner at meetings, conferences, workshops, taskforces and workgroups by being prepared, arriving on time, and actively participating as directed by the Research and Statistics Manager.
To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- One year of supervisory experience; and
- One year of statistical analysis and/or data analysis experience.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis;
- Knowledge of basic management principles and practices;
- Ability to supervise people;
- Ability to organize data into logical formats for presentation in reports, documents and other written materials;
- Ability to utilize problem solving techniques;
- Ability to work independently; and
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

BASE SALARY:
- $61,800.00
