POSITION SUMMARY:

Under the direction of the Data Collections Manager and the Criminal Justice Analytics Bureau Chief, the incumbent in this position is responsible for supervising staff and spends the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating members while planning and directing their work. This position is responsible for providing management consultant services to the Division, Department, and other agencies to improve operations and ensure efficient and effective accomplishments of agency objectives. This position plans and implements new programs for collecting and/or using criminal justice data to include the Summary Reporting System, the Florida Incident-Based Report System, and the Use-of-Force Data Collection, conducts management studies and surveys of criminal justice information programs, analyses and develops projects relating to criminal justice information and assists federal, state, and local agencies in the collection and use of information about crime. This position also works closely with the Federal Bureau of Investigation Uniform Crime Reports program staff, occasionally acting as a backup State Program Manager.

 

This position provides research analysis relative to laws, rules and regulations that directly or indirectly have an impact on criminal justice data. This position works independently and in teams to accomplish objectives established in the Criminal Justice Information Services Strategic Plan and consults with other governmental agencies to evaluate their information needs and capabilities. This position is responsible for supervision of staff and incumbent spends the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating members while planning and directing their work. This position is expected to deliver presentations and occasionally travel to further the goals of the Bureau.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Supervising members to include planning, organizing and managing of work within the sub-section;
  • Consulting with Data Collections Manager and administrative staff to resolve programmatic, administrative, and operational issues and problems;
  • Assessing/analyzing and making recommendations to resolve issues and problems within the bureau;
  • Coordinating various work volume daily and addressing them through work adjustments by monitoring the status of the work in the sub-section;
  • Formulating objectives by outlining goals, activites, and special projects which are consistent with the sub-section, section and bureau overall objectives and mission, and conveys to sub-section members;
  • Acting as liaison with internal and external customers regarding criminal justice data;
  • Participating in the overall management, planning, and policy development of the Bureau and Division;
  • Providing data analysis of productivity goals of the Bureau and providing research, analysis and assimilation of information relative to laws, rules and regulations that directly or indirectly impact criminal justice data; and 
  • Preparing periodic performance evaluations on employees and making recommendations for promotions pertinent to the sub-section.

 

To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • At least two year of relevant work experience recommended.

 

Note: 30 semester hours, or equivalent, of coursework from an accredited college or university is equivalent to one year of experience.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of law enforcement telecommunications systems;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data analysis;
  • Ability to read and interpret law enforcement data;
  • Ability to follow complex coding instructions;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
  • Ability to design and deliver informative and engaging presentations; and
  • Ability to adapt information to different audiences.

BASE SALARY:

  • $61,800.00

 

NOTES:

Starting salary will be at the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE's pay policy. The elements of this selection process may include a work sample and/or interview. Future vacancies may be filled from this position advertisement.
