POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Data Collections Manager and the Criminal Justice Analytics Bureau (CJAB) Chief, this position plans, implements, and updates programs for collecting and/or using criminal justice data to include Criminal Justice Data Transparency, the Uniform Arrest Affidavit, and the Master Name Index, in accordance with Florida law and agency objectives. This position is responsible for providing management consultant services to the Division, Department, and other agencies to improve operations and ensure efficient and effective accomplishments of agency objectives. The incumbent in this position conducts management studies and surveys of criminal justice information programs, analyzes and develops projects relating to criminal justice information and assists federal, state, and local agencies in the collection and use of information about crime. This position provides research analysis relative to laws, rules and regulations that directly or indirectly have an impact on criminal justice data. This position works independently and in teams to accomplish objectives established in the CJIS Strategic Plan and consults with other governmental agencies to evaluate their information needs and capabilities. This position is responsible for supervision of staff and incumbent spends the majority of time communicating with, motivating, training and evaluating members while planning and directing their work.
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Working with law enforcement partners throughout Florida to ensure high quality participation in the Criminal Justice Data Transparency and Uniform Arrest Affidavit projects;
- Updating system documentation (including the Information Exchange Package Documentations (IEPDs) and Data Dictionaries) on a regular basis to ensure data quality and compliance with state law and agency objectives;
- Preparing program user specifications and assisting programming staff with understanding data definitions, edits, program modifications, and output reports required by supplying written documentation and verbal instructions as required.
- Formulating objectives by outlining goals, activities and special projects which are consistent with the sub-section, section and bureau overall objectives and mission, and conveys to sub-section members;
- Coordinating various work volumes daily and addresses them through work adjustments by monitoring the status of the work in the sub-section;
- Ensuring coordination with counterparts within the Department with respect to work adjustments or procedural changes to ensure other areas are not adversely impacted;
- Providing verbal status reports weekly or as instructed by the supervisor;
- Ensuring members understand their responsibilities and provides regular and constructive feedback through performance evaluations and routine ongoing communication with members;
- Managing assigned work processes, ensuring timeliness and quality, and updates supervisor on issues and progress; and
- Providing daily consultation and assistance to management and staff in oversight of programs and responsibilities.
To be considered as a potential candidate, you must meet the minimum qualifications(s) listed below. Degrees must be from an accredited college or university as recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
- At least one year of relevant work experience in project coordination, management, or data system analysis recommended.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of law enforcement telecommunications systems;
- Knowledge of the methods of data analysis;
- Ability to read and interpret law enforcement data;
- Ability to follow complex coding instructions;
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
- Ability to prepare detailed project status updates;
- Ability to think critically and recognize gaps in data;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
BASE SALARY:
- $61,800.00
