Duties and Responsibilities

This position is responsible for specialized clerical work that supports the International Registration Plan (IRP) and International Fuel Tax Agreement (IFTA) programs with respect to incoming mail, outgoing mail (including preparation of motor carrier credentials for shipment), or documents requiring scanning. The position incumbent will make independent decisions related to the organization and control of those documents and credentials received by the Bureau or prepared by the Bureau for shipment or records management purposes. 

 

Duties include working with all the IRP and IFTA business units to ensure the proper intake of service requests and the proper disposition of completed work. The incumbent in this position is entrusted with certain information that is confidential and/or exempt from public record and that, if not handled properly, could compromise carrier/taxpayer privacy or protection of personal identity.

  • Ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and respectfully under a variety of conditions.

  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers and other Department business units.

  • Knowledge of alphabetical and numerical filing.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures.
  • Ability to work with standard office software such as email, spreadsheets, and databases.
  • Ability to foster cooperation and support coworkers in achieving bureau and Departmental performance goals.

 

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants who have the following:

  • At least 6 months of clerical support experience in such areas as mail handling, document handling, or filing, etc.

Job Related Requirements

  • The work hours for this position are from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.
  • Occasional overtime required.
  • Must be able to load, unload, and lift items that weigh up to 30 lbs.

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.  Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
