Duties and Responsibilities

This Motorist Services Specialist position provides clerical support to the Bureau of Motorist Compliance as necessary to enforce Financial Responsibility Laws. The incumbent is authorized to research, compile, evaluate, verify and update information to change driver records and ensure Motorists have met Motor vehicle insurance and Financial Responsibility requirements. The incumbent is responsible for researching and processing motor vehicle insurance information to enforce Florida’s No-Fault law. Ensuring that information is added to the appropriate Florida driver history record and retained for documentation.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Skill in providing customer service to internal and external customers.
  • Ability to organize and maintain filing systems.
  • Ability to sort and file documents.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations such as addition and subtractions of whole numbers and decimals.
  • Ability to work well independently.

 

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Experience filing and maintaining records.
  • Experience in using general office equipment to include personal computer; copier; scanner and/or fax machine.
  • Experience in handling confidential and sensitive information.

 

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
