Duties and Responsibilities
The MS Analyst serves in the Driver Review (Medical) Program as a direct report to the FLHSMV Program Manager and is responsible for performing research and analysis of complex medical disability issues and providing case consultation to the Medical Case Processing Sections and Re-Exam/Vision Section. This position also provides case management services with the objective of counseling customers regarding case outcomes. Other duties include preparing multifaceted correspondence, memoranda, and other communication, as well as handling complex communication with field personnel, other agencies, FLHSMV legal and executive staff, and customers. This incumbent in this position will also serve as a liaison between the Driver Review (Medical) Program, Tax Collector agents, and Medical Advisory Board, and is a member of the Safe Mobility for Life Coalition.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Knowledge of medical disabilities that can directly affect driving ability
  • Experience in reviewing/screening medical reports, identifying relevant information, and making appropriate recommendations and/or determinations
  • Ability to analyze processes and implement process improvements
  • Skills in written communication
  • Ability to analyze data and prepare and maintain records and/or reports
  •  Professional work experience processing confidential information
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Skill in using personal computers and software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

 

Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:

  • Two or more years managing issues or grievances
  • Two or more years of experience preparing correspondence and memos
  • Two or more years analyzing, interpreting, and understanding Florida Statutes
  • An associate degree or higher and/or a Master’s in social work
  • Experience implementing process improvements
  • Experience analyzing data and preparing/maintaining records and reports
  • Handling/processing confidential information
  • Experience using Microsoft Word and Excel

 

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI. Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
  • FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month.  All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
