Duties and Responsibilities
As a MS Business Consultant I, you will be authorized to research compile, tabulate and analyze statistical information from fatal traffic crashes, which occur in the State of Florida. You will also be authorized to monitor submission of electronic fatal crash traffic data information to National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) as it relates to the Fatality Analysis Reporting System (FARS) located in Washington, DC for research purposes. Work requires contact with national, state and local governmental agencies and law enforcement agencies. The incumbent will conduct research and preparing reports of findings as needed. We are seeking individuals who have experience reviewing statistical data, determining trends and changes and who perform well working independently. This is an entry level analyst position in the FARS unit which supports the MS Analyst I and Operations Manager.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Computer operating systems and relevant software applications.
- Crash record policies, procedures, and documentation requirements.
- State crash report codes and reporting standards.
- Preparing, organizing, and maintaining records, files, and reports.
- Using personal computers, software programs, applications, and information systems.
- Managing workload to meet established timelines and deadlines.
- Researching, analyzing, and interpreting state and federal policies and regulations.
- Applying basic mathematical principles.
- Analyzing issues and information to develop logical, fact based solutions.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships.

- Perform accurate data entry.

- Capable of efficiently reviewing substantial amounts of written content and extracting key information.
Preferred Qualifications
Preference will be given to candidates with the following:
- At least two years of experience analyzing data/information and developing solutions, conducting research and/or gathering information, performing statistical (making sense of numbers/quantitative analysis); and using Microsoft Excel.
- Experience applying laws, regulations, polices or procedures.
- One or more years’ experience working with motor-vehicle, law enforcement, or crash-related data.
- Experience handling confidential and sensitive information.
- An Associate Degree or higher from an accredited college or university.
- Documented analytical training in the form of a diploma, certificate or course completion.
Job Related Requirements
- Please note that the incumbent of this position may be asked to travel occasionally by air, which may include an overnight stay for up to a week, to represent the agency at annual and regional seminars in other states.
- Occasionally working outside of normal work hours including evenings and weekends may be required due to business needs.
