MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

A bachelor's degree (4 years) from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the physical or natural sciences and four (4) years of professional experience in one of the physical or natural sciences, environmental protection, regulation or health; or

A master's degree (6 years) from an accredited college or university in a major as described above and three (3) years of professional experience as described above; or

A doctorate (8 years) from an accredited college or university in a major as described above and one (1) year of professional experience as described above.

The incumbent of this position is considered to have regulatory responsibilities and is subject to the provisions of Chapter 60L-36, F.A.C.

JOB DUTIES:

Conduct review of processed enforcement case files to assure proper quality and content, evaluate proposed enforcement actions, and approve case determinations and related correspondence.  Perform these activities in accordance with section policies and procedures. 

Develop and implement policies and procedures for section to ensure that violations of Chapters 388, 482, and 487, F.S., and associated rules are properly identified, and appropriate enforcement actions are taken.  Supervise assigned employees, track and evaluate performance for Case Review, and report on performance as directed in accordance with established policies and procedures.  Responsible and accountable for managing budget/dollars/resources (staff, vehicles, computers, cell phones, etc.) of any assigned programs in an efficient and accountable manner.  Responsible for ensuring that assigned program areas have operational procedures and processes which result in accountability and compliance with division and department policies and procedures.

Communicate verbally and in writing with complainants and respondents to provide accurate information on enforcement case status, and ensure that preparation, scheduling and performance of conferences and hearings necessary under the requirements of the Florida Administrative Procedures Act are done in accordance with established policy and procedure.

Serve as representative of the department in administrative hearings, court proceedings or meetings as necessary.

Participate in special projects and incident response activities, and perform related duties as necessary and directed.
