Overview:

The Florida Gaming Control Commission (FGCC) is a five-member commission appointed by the Governor. Our mission is to preserve and protect the integrity of gaming activities through fair regulation, licensing, effective criminal investigation, and enforcement.

 

The FGCC regulates legal gambling in the state, including licensed pari-mutuel wagering facilities, cardrooms, and slot machine gaming facilities.  In addition, FGCC investigates criminal gambling activity and enforces the state’s criminal gambling laws.

 

The FGCC is searching for a Network Administrator to support our growing agency, infrastructure, and IT team. This role will report directly to the Chief Information Security Officer and will support users of FGCC computer systems.

 

This position will be involved in maintaining the agency’s network infrastructure, including five main office sites, approximately 30 remote sites, and our private cloud environment. This position requires frequent travel and the ability to lift and manage equipment in excess of 50 lbs.  MFN experience is preferred.

 

Position Duties:

  • Administer next-generation firewalls, including the creation of rules, patching, and troubleshooting.
  • Configure and administer network equipment such as switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Support and maintain the agency’s Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS) network connection.
  • Installs, configures, and maintains network equipment to update or fix hardware or software issues; updates security/network software to keep data and communications protected.
  • Monitors computer systems to improve network performance for computer systems and networks.
  • Develops and implements standards, procedures, and processes for the network operations.
  • Responsible for network operations and service levels for data and voice networking equipment, software, and network processing devices.
  • Plans and manages the support of new technologies, network performance, reliability, equipment arrangements, electrical power, and cable requirements for telecommunications and information processing equipment.
  • Responsible for cable management in all wiring closets.
  • Ensures the computer network is fully operational and secured and maintains computer networks and systems including software-defined (cloud) networks, firewalls, VPNs, switches, routers, and other physical and virtual network appliances.
  • Read technical manuals, confer with users, or conduct computer diagnostics to investigate and resolve problems or to provide technical assistance and support.
  • Develop training materials and procedures to train operators in the proper use of hardware or software.
  • Perform routine maintenance around reports, labels, and other documentation required by operations.
  • Provide proactive and responsive support to all end users by addressing assigned incidents.
  • Provide operational support for the organization's information systems and peripheral equipment, such as servers, printers, storage devices, mobile devices, network devices and VoIP or Collaboration solution.
  • Troubleshoot common connectivity issues.
  • Provide support to systems containing CJIS data.
  • Conduct routine backups on network appliances.
  • Review logs and alerts for agency systems. Remediate issues as they are discovered.
  • Install and perform minor repairs to hardware, software, or peripheral equipment, following design or installation specifications.
  • Maintain records of daily data communication transactions, problems and remedial actions taken, or installation activities through ticketing system and knowledge repositories.
  • Follow up on outstanding requests and ensure timely resolution.

Minimum Requirements:

  • 2 years of experience supporting enterprise networks. Experience in support services related to network management may substitute depending on depth and breadth of experience. 
  • Good working knowledge of current operating systems, next generation firewalls, routers, switches, wireless access points, Microsoft 365, Cloud services, SDN, and other networking technologies.
