SPECIAL NOTES:

Four (4) years of experience in a computer-related field, such as programming, computer science or engineering is preferred.

  • A bachelor’s degree in a computer related field, such as programming, computer science or engineering may substitute the preferred experience; or
  • An associate degree in a computer-related field, such as programming, computer science or engineering with (2) years of the preferred experience.

 

Requirements:

  • Five (5) years of professional experience in network engineering, performing network analysis, design, implementing, capacity planning with focus on performance tuning and support of large Networks.
  • Five (5) years of experience in Cisco routing, switching and security with strong Cisco hardware/software experiences with platforms such as Cisco multilayer switches.
  • Five (5) years of experience configurating, managing and troubleshooting any interior gateway protocol such as BGP, EIGRP, OSPF and RIPv2.
  • Two (2) years of experience with wireless network technologies that comprise of Wireless Controllers and access points (APs).
  • Five (5) years of experience with firewalls in highly available (HA) pairs

 

Additional preference:

  • Knowledge and hands-on experience on IPv4 addressing, subnetting, VLSM and ARP, reverse & proxy ARP, Ping Concepts.
  • Experience with fault and performance monitoring systems. (Example: Solarwinds, Nagios, etc.)

 

This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description.

 

The salary range for this position is $90,000.00 to $110,000.00 per year.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY-LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Five plus years of professional experience as a Network Engineer, Network Administrator or Network Analyst with demonstrable accomplishments in network planning and analysis.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This position is part of the Network Services team within the Distributed Infrastructure group.  The Network Services team is responsible for analyzing, designing, implementing, and maintaining the Department’s network infrastructure, cellular voice, data systems, and their respective performance and monitoring tools.  This team is involved in both long-term project work with the goal of improving the IT infrastructure and short-term work fulfilling the requests from other teams and efficiently dealing with operational issues.

 

Primary responsibilities of this position include but are not limited to: design, configuration, maintenance, and support for: WAN, voice, and core routers, distribution and access switches, IPS network security, perimeter firewalls, site-to-site and client-access VPN, 802.11 wireless, and network monitoring systems.

 

You will serve as a Lead Engineer for highly technical work including design, implementation, and maintenance for the Department’s Wide Area Network (WAN), Local Area Network (LAN), and other voice/data communications support statewide including the Regional Offices, Field Offices as well as connectivity and support to other State Agencies and Public Entities requiring access to DFS.

 

You will be responsible for applying daily operational changes to switches, routers, firewalls, IPS, 802.11 wireless, and other network infrastructure components, as needed.  Daily operational changes include but are not limited to 1) Troubleshooting and Resolution of Problems; and 2) Changes because of a Policy or Business need, System Deployment, or System Change.
