The Work You Will Do:

Office of Forecasting and Performance Training Coordinator/Office of Design/Production Support Office

 

This position will be responsible for assessing training program needs and delivery capabilities and organizing the delivery of approved statewide training programs. Activities may include advertising events, securing training facilities and resources, preparing contracts for services, coordinating with instructors to establish deadlines and responsibilities, securing support personnel, registering students, processing a Mission Critical, delivering equipment, coordinating the production of course materials, providing on-site support, overseeing professional development hours and Training Records credits and reporting. Support the development and maintenance of the Office of Forecasting and Performance training webpage and SharePoint site.

 Your Specific Responsibilities:

Serve as the Office of Forecasting and Performance Training Coordinator by assessing training program needs and delivery capabilities and organizing the delivery of approved statewide training programs. Activities may include advertising events, securing training facilities and resources, preparing contracts for services, coordinating with instructors to establish deadlines and responsibilities, securing support personnel, registering students, processing a Mission Critical, delivering equipment, coordinating the production of course materials, providing on-site support, overseeing professional development hours and Training Records credits and reporting. Support the development and maintenance of the Office of Forecasting and Performance training webpage and SharePoint site.

 

Assist with the development and delivery of Project Management training programs to support Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) project management activities for both in-house and consultant personnel.  Assist with the development, participation, and coordination of project management program activities in conferences, meetings, and trainings hosted by the Office of Forecasting and Performance and/or other FDOT offices.  This includes support of events like the Project Management Academy and FDOT Transportation Symposium.

 

Assist with the development, implementation and management of a Project Management Trainee Program for FDOT.  Activities include development and implementation of a program procedure, training curriculum, evaluation and assessment criteria, progress/performance monitoring plan, program webpage/SharePoint, and trainee database.  Coordinate with district staff on program implementation and monitor trainee progress. Solicit feedback and implement program improvements based on lessons learned.

 

Develop and manage the Project Management Guide, including associated webpage and training. Create new chapters and maintain existing chapters to reflect current Department practices. Coordinate chapter content with subject matter experts.

 

Facilitate the communication of statewide Project Management Program, including related training, tools, best practices, guidelines, handbooks, policies, procedures, initiatives and other resources, to inform and educate Department and consultant project managers on issues related to Project Management.  

 

The Successful Candidate will have the following required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

Knowledge of:

  • Knowledge of Project Management concepts, principles and functions in the delivery of Transportation Systems.
  • Knowledge of basic training methods, principles and practices.
  • Knowledge of engineering and design standards, concepts, principles, and terminology in the delivery of Transportation Systems (from Planning through Maintenance).

Skills in:

  • Skilled in preparing written guidelines and procedures and other data and preparing said items in a clear and concise manner for the purpose of reporting.
  • Skilled in scheduling and coordinating meetings including online conferencing and statewide meetings.
  • Skilled in communicating technical information clearly, accurately and effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Skilled in preparing clear and concisely written guidelines, procedures and other reports.
  • Skilled in developing and delivering training.

Ability to:

  • Ability to use a personal computer and applicable software for the collection, evaluation and presentation of data, procedures and training materials.
  • Ability to manage programs.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with individuals as well as groups.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with various personnel inside and outside of the Department.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams either as a participant, facilitator or leader.
  • Ability to identify training needs and prepare a training plan.
  • Ability to develop, assess and present quality training materials, and analyze training evaluations.
  • Ability to work independently and proactively, schedule resources effectively, plan, organize, manage and prioritize multiple work assignments, manage time, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to adapt to and support various needs of the Project Management Section and the Office of Forecasting and Performance.

 

Other Job-Related Requirements:

  • This position will be required to respond before, during and following emergency situations.

 

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Two years of work experience and a high school diploma or its equivalent.
