The Reemployment Assistance Appeals Commission, also referred to as RAAC or the Commission, is the quasi-judicial administrative appellate body responsible for reviewing contested decisions of FloridaCommerce reemployment assistance appeals referees. The Commission is comprised of a Chairman and two Commissioners, each appointed by the Governor, and confirmed by the Senate, and is 100% federally funded. The Commission is housed within the FloridaCommerce, however, it operates as an independent review body.

The Work You Will Do:

This is a highly responsible and professional position in the Reemployment Assistance Appeals Commission. As an Operations & Management Consultant II, you will assist the Deputy General Counsel/ Commission Clerk with compliance and reports, information technology, record management and customer service activities of the Commission in accordance with applicable laws and policies. You will provide operational assistance with equipment, technology applications, customer service, performance and production reports, and record management, and must be capable of exercising a high degree of independent judgment and discretion in the performance of these duties.

The Reemployment Assistance Appeals Commission is located at 1211 Governors Square Blvd, Suite 300, Tallahassee, Florida 32301. This is an on-site position. This position may have the ability for a hybrid remote schedule.

Your Specific Responsibilities:

  • Provide technical assistance, monitoring and planning related to the Commission’s equipment, systems, and software.  Problem solves technical issues and coordinates with the agency’s Information Technology team to set up and troubleshoot hardware and software.
  • Assists with planning purchases related to IT equipment, software, and related maintenance.
  • Generates, prepares, and maintains Commission production reports for management regarding the activities of the Commission. Creates queries and reports using SQL software. Analyzes data to identify trends, patterns, and correlations that can impact business decisions.
  • Reviews and updates system data, monitors system outputs and makes recommendations for improving system efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Acts as the Commission’s security officer. Assists the Deputy General Counsel/Commission Clerk with maintaining user security roles and other security access, including maintaining documentation, providing training, and responding to reviews and audits related to staff access.
  • Provides training to other staff on Commission reports and Commission case systems and equipment. Develops and updates training materials.
  • Organizes and maintains database of Commission orders according to the issues involved.  Maintains final order indexing system. Tracks, updates, and maintains documentation for Commission’s template orders, template documents, form language and order index.
  • Assists the Deputy General Counsel/Commission Clerk with project management related to Commission’s information technology resources, organization of administrative tasks, and assists with customer communications.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to organize work and complete work proactively and independently.
  • Ability to provide support troubleshooting technical hardware and software issues.
  • Working knowledge and experience using Structured Query Language (SQL) products for reporting to create, deploy, and manage reports.
  • Working knowledge and experience using Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules and procedures to operational analyses and activities.
  • Ability to collect and analyze data.
  • Ability to use problem solving techniques.
  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing and coordinating work assignments.
  • Ability to build and maintain effective relationships with other staff and management.
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner.
  • Ability to document work processes and other activities relating to the improvement of operational practices.
  • Ability to collaborate with teams and explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Skilled at customer service and preparing written correspondence, reports, memorandum, and emails.
  • Ability to lift and carry equipment that weighs up to 40 lbs.

 

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records. 

 

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree or four years of direct experience in a related field.
  • At least two years of experience working with Microsoft Office applications and using Structured Query Language (SQL) products for reporting to create, deploy, and manage reports.

 

 

Preferred

  • Experience in a State government benefits program is a plus.
  • Experience providing problem resolution and technical assistance on computer software and hardware and office equipment technical customer support is a plus.
  • Experience with computer application administrative support is a plus.
