Duties and Responsibilities

This is a highly responsible and professional position in the Office of the Inspector General.  As an Operations & Management Consultant II, you plan and perform complex compliance, financial, information technology, and performance audits of the Department in accordance with applicable laws and auditing standards.  You examine and evaluate systems of internal control, efficiency of operations, and program performance and make recommendations for improving efficiency, effectiveness, internal controls, compliance, and operational policies and procedures.  Whether working independently or with team members, you conduct audit fieldwork, prepare and organize working papers, summarize the pertinent facts, and prepare a written report with recommendations to assist the Department in continual improvement of operations. 

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Computer skills associated with the analysis of large volumes of data.
  • Strong oral and written skills needed for conducting interviews, establishing facts, and conveying conclusions and recommendations in group situations and written format.
  • Knowledge of accounting, finance, technology, information security, business operations, and internal auditing principles and methodology.
  • Knowledge of project management principles.
  • Knowledge of internal controls, governance and accountability, fraud, and risk assessment.
  • Ability to conduct fact-finding research.
  • Ability to assess risk.
  • Ability to organize data into logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials.
  • Professional standards and ethics.

 

Preferred Qualification

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited university; preferably in Accounting, Finance, Business, Information Technology, Criminal Justice, or Communications;
    • Experience reviewing information technology systems and controls.
  • At least 2 years of related professional experience such as:
    • conducting internal or external audits,
    • conducting financial, compliance, or performance audits,
    • assessing organizational risk, or
    • recommending business process improvements.

 

Job Related Requirements

  • A valid driver license is required for this position. A driver license history review will be conducted on all candidates in consideration for the position. The incumbent will be required to operate a State-owned vehicle and will be required to maintain a vaild driver license.
  • The position you are applying is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.  Please note that, since this position requires CJIS clearance, the Department will have access to all an applicant’s criminal and juvenile delinquency records, even those that have been sealed or expunged.

General Information

  • The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.
  • Applicants being considered for employment will be required to submit to a fingerprint-based background investigation, which will include a check of the criminal history records of the FBI.  Fingerprints and associated information/biometrics will be retained in the FBI’s Next Generation Identification (NGI) system and fingerprints may continue to be compared against fingerprints submitted to or retained by NGI.
