The Division of Medical Quality Assurance, Bureau of Operations, is seeking a leader to directly support operations and initiatives of the Bureau Chief's Office. The successful candidate demonstrates comparable experience and expertise to manage bureau-level initiatives, including tasks and responsibilities assigned to peer managers, and to manage direct report staff. The person also manages division-level assessment and analysis and performs clear written and verbal communication for initiatives that are focal to the Bureau of Operations, under guidance of the bureau chief. The manager will exhibit significant independent ability to make important decisions and recommendations.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
This position supports the bureau chief by making recommendations and enacting decisions about current-state processes and future needs. The person in this position, in conjunction with the bureau chief, will oversee Bureau of Operations daily work, strategic initiatives and staffing management to support licensing and regulating Florida health care practitioners. As such, the incumbent spends the majority of their time in management duties.
The division is undergoing a major system transformation project, which will affect all bureaus and teams for the next two years. The incumbent in this position will assist during project engagement and modernization, as well as support continual improvements needed into the future for changes in business processes and quantitative assessment.
Successful Candidate Demonstrates:
Experience at a management level in personnel activities and direct supervision of analytical and/or operational staff (FTEs); minimum of three years of full, direct supervisory responsibility is expected with possible opportunities for higher-level educational credentials to partially satisfy.
Experience developing training plans and initiatives to recruit, retain and motivate employees.
Experience applying statutory and regulatory requirements in decision making; preferred knowledge of licensure requirements in Chapters 120 and 456, Florida Statutes.
Ability to plan and execute strategic goals.
Ability to plan and execute performance and process improvement.
Ability to communicate clearly in intrapersonal situations, meetings and strategy sessions, and in written communications. Must be able to prepare high-quality briefings, reports and documentation for strategic initiatives.
Ability to analyze data and make recommendations for changes, improvements, and modifications that ensure quality and accuracy of information.
Ability to lead meetings and facilitate successful communication with stakeholders and other bureaus and divisions, including resolving problems.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Ability to manage daily and long-term assignments supporting strategic initiatives.
- Strong organizational, time management, and communication skills.
- Proficiency in integrating technology solutions into workflows.
- Leadership experience in supervising staff and managing HR tasks (hiring, performance evaluation, corrective actions).
- Knowledge of strategic planning, organizational operations, and HR practices.
- Ability to prepare reports, briefings, and recommendations for executive leadership.
- Capacity to work collaboratively across divisions and maintain professional relationships.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience analyzing legislative bills for programmatic and operational impacts and creating clear, actionable steps for implementation.
- Experience working with technical contacts to mitigate system issues and execute optimization.
- Demonstration of personal, professional development geared toward public administration, management and leadership.
- Experience with projects, especially customer relationship and workflow management systems.
- Experience with licensing or case management systems.
