This position is in the Office of Legislative Affairs and works closely with Legislators and their aides. Must have a professional demeanor and be able to thrive in a fast-paced environment. Excellent computer and customer service skills required. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with correspondence intake and routing to ensure constituent issues are responded to in a timely and professional manner. Keeps management fully informed of pertinent issues, upcoming events, and potential problems.
  • Handles Legislative constituent inquiries and Department referrals/trackers, monitors, and follows up to ensure resolution. Provides customer service by handling inquiries and routing to the appropriate area.
  • Input constituent issues into the Department of Children and Families inquiry tracking system.
  • Answer main phone line for the Office of Legislative Affairs and ensure all messages are accurately taken and emailed to staff.
  • Conduct research for various projects.
  • Correspond with Legislators, their aides, and other agencies Legislative office’s.
  • Compile various materials needed for legislative briefings and meetings.
  • Act as back-up to the Legislative Coordinator

 

Qualifications:

Associates Degree or 1 year job experience in a legislative setting or customer service related field.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

 

  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to operational management and analysis activities.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective communication and communicate effectively.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
  • Ability to professional interact with both internal and external customers in a tactful, courteous and effective manner.
  • Ability to record, collect, evaluate and analyze data.
  • Ability to work independently by planning, organizing and coordinating work assignments.
  • Ability to listen effectively.
  • Ability to speak clearly and correctly.
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques.
