Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position is responsible for providing operational and procedural support to the Newborn Hearing Screening Program in the

Bureau of Early Steps and Newborn Screening, Division of Children’s Medical Services and reports to the General and Operations Manager I - SES Data Informatics Unit supervisor.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to: Works independently, must have the ability to organize and prioritize workload, document data team processes, identify data quality issues and propose potential solutions, engage in collaborative problem-solving, be capable of ensuring continuity of work in the absence of supervision, and demonstrate sound judgement and initiative in the performance of these duties.

Provide various hearing data support tasks for the monthly screening data validation process led by the Screening Resource Coordinator for hospitals, birthing centers, and primary care physicians. Complete the linking process in collaboration with the Human Services Specialist and the Data Analyst within established timeframes. Review hospital responses to the monthly reports and complete necessary data corrections within established timeframes.

Complete requests for linking that come in from the lab or other EHDI staff within one business day. Collaborate with NBS and Vital Statistics staff to analyze data and address issues as identified. Complete daily quality assurance monitoring, data validation activities and duplicate records maintenance. Participate in routine meetings with Vital Statistics, the Laboratory, and other stakeholders as directed.

Review incoming faxes, assigned emails, and letters and take appropriate action steps as assigned within established timelines of 24 – 48 hours, including completing printing of letters.

Participate in various workgroups, meetings, and conferences related to newborn hearing screening or as assigned. Serve as backup for other Newborn Hearing Screening Program staff.

Participate in planning and implementation of continuous quality improvement program activities.

Perform other duties as required.

Preferred Qualification

  • Bachelor's Degree in one of the following: Public Health, Epidemiology, Healthcare Administration, Business
  • Administration or a related degree.
  • One to three years’ experience entering and analyzing data in Excel spreadsheets, creating Excel spreadsheets, working in health data systems, following HIPAA requirements, making and receiving phone calls with health care professionals.
