Your Specific Responsibilities:
The incumbent will oversee the Health Improvement Planning section that is responsible for the following:
- Providing technical assistance and training to county health departments and community partners on health assessment and improvement planning
- Providing leadership in state-level health improvement planning including facilitating strategic planning with various workgroups
- Developing publications including the State Health Assessment Report and the State Health Improvement Plan
- Coordinating the collection and monitoring of quarterly progress data from external and internal partners for the State Health Improvement Plan
- Assisting with the collection and monitoring of performance indicators across divisions and county health departments for the Department’s performance management system
- Providing training and technical assistance to other divisions in developing performance indicators in coordination with the Agency Performance Management Council.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The incumbent must possess the following:
- Knowledge of applied research and/or evaluation methods
- Knowledge of public health, public administration, health care administration or social services administration
- Knowledge of and ability to use Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel and PowerPoint
- Strong organizational skills to lead and communicate plan goals and objectives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively and concisely
- Ability to communicate expectations, assignments and responsibilities clearly and professionally
- Ability to write grammatically correct and accurate reports that communicate concise reports
- Ability to review and analyze agency records and documents
- Ability to provide effective presentations and information to a broad range of audiences, internal and external to the Department
- Ability to plan, organize, coordinate and delegate work assignments
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a manager and team member
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others
- Ability to adapt to a fast-paced environment or be flexible
Qualifications:
Preferred: A Master’s degree from an accredited college or university with professional experience in social services, public health, performance management, strategic planning, systems analysis, management analysis, program or policy planning and development, program monitoring or evaluation. The incumbent must also have experience in applying research and evaluation methods, such as collecting, organizing and analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, identifying and developing findings and areas for improvement, and developing recommendations and approaches to improve performance.
Experience working in or with county health departments is preferred.
