MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, engineering, laboratory support, laboratory analysis or administrative work. 

 

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience. 

 

Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

JOB DUTIES:

 

Track all regulatory samples through the laboratory from sample reception to disposal. Confirm sample custody is consistently and correctly maintained and documented. Ensure all samples are properly logged in, routed, and safely stored. Create database queries and work with laboratory section leads to track number of analyses performed. Develop and maintain procedures for proper sample disposal of hazardous material or controlled substances and ensure the disposal is properly documented. Routinely update report content based on program needs. Provide reports to laboratory management and Division Bureau Chiefs by established deadlines.

Develop and implement plans to ensure sample acceptance criteria are met. Continuously update and adjust plan to align with quarterly sampling plan. Track trends and generate reports of unacceptable samples. Provide appropriate reports and suggested corrective action reports to Bureaus of Inspection, Dairy Industry, and Quality Management. Monitor corrective action, analyze effectiveness, and provide follow up reports and actions. Issue final reports for not analyzed or damaged samples.

 

Coordinate receipt of laboratory supplies. Route supplies to the correct section and ensure documentation to meet purchasing policies and procedures are created, signed, and forwarded to the appropriate personnel. Track any problems with the receipt of supplies, identify trends and determine where corrective action is necessary. Develop, implement, and monitor new procedures in response to program changes and identified trends.

Track proficiency test and project samples. Develop systems and reports to track workload associated with non-regulatory sample analysis. Ensure non-regulatory samples are properly logged into and reported out of laboratory database systems. Provide reports to laboratory management.

 

Train laboratory staff on all receipt, tracking, documentation, custody, and disposal procedures to ensure continuity of operations.

  • Skill in using software applications to generate reports.
  • Skill in using software applications in tracking trend.
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Ability to maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to compile, organize and analyze data and make recommendations.
