SPECIAL NOTES:

Requirements:

  • Two (2) years of experience in accounting and/or auditing financial data.
  • Two (2) years of experience analyzing information in a structured format utilizing traditional and/or computer-based tools for data analysis.
  • Two (2) years of experience conducting reviews of automated systems and manual processes that result in disbursements to ensure appropriate internal controls.

 

Additional preferences:

  • Experience managing projects.
  • Experience preparing or participating in User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Experience with reporting and query-based software (Excel, Access, Tableau, Power BI).
  • Experience using Microsoft applications (e.g. Outlook, Word, Excel, Access).
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in accounting, finance, or another business-related field.

The starting salary for this position is $49,839.59

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge and application of accounting and auditing principles and procedures. Ability to effectively communicate information verbally and in writing to individuals and groups. Ability to investigate, review, analyze and evaluate contract, grant and disbursement documentation. Knowledge of the methods of data collection and analysis. Skills associated with assessing risk, planning, writing audit programs and performing audit procedures. Ability to understand and assess internal controls in manual and automated systems. Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow and other activities related to improving operations. Ability to write effective technical reports based on evidential matter and the identification of areas for improvement. Ability to analyze information in a structured format utilizing traditional and computer-based tools for data analysis. Ability to understand and apply applicable state rules and regulations and federal laws. Knowledge of the structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition and grammar. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office software – Excel, Access, Power-point, Word and Outlook.

 

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This position has responsibilities involving procedures adopted by the Department, Division, and Bureau. The procedures are part of the internal control structure used to provide reasonable assurance that objectives are met. This position shall use, comply with, and, if needed, improve these controls and procedures in the performance of duties within the Bureau of Auditing.
