What you will do:
This is a highly responsible position supporting statewide CPI operations. The role involves assisting with special projects, project management and implementation activities, and special case reviews for the CPI team. Strong data analysis and customer service skills are essential. The incumbent will have extensive child welfare knowledge, with a focus on child protective investigations, and will serve at the direction of the Statewide CPI Director to support the CPI operations team.

  • Lead, plan, design, and monitor effective implementation strategies for large child welfare projects and special initiatives. Develop change management activities that build a culture of performance and innovation. Collaborate with regional teams, the policy team, training team, Office of Quality and Innovation, Human Resources, and IT in formulating plans and activities to support project implementation.
  • At the direction of the Statewide Director of Child Protection, partner with Regional Child Protection Directors to drive process and performance improvements; identify root causes of issues and recommend concrete solutions to increase organizational capacity.
  • Review, analyze, and distribute data and reports—both at aggregate and individual levels—on trends and technical issues across all child welfare areas.
  • Serve as policy advisor to the Statewide Director of Child Protection on programmatic issues related to child protection and child welfare operations. Develop and maintain systems for inter- and intra-program information dissemination and program integration.
  • Prepare, analyze, and report on issues confronting child protection; work in tandem with policy staff to recommend alternative policies and/or programs for addressing these issues.
  • Prepare, analyze and review new and existing Memorandums of Understanding (MOUs) with other state agencies, law enforcement agencies, providers and community stakeholders that have a statewide impact on CPI operations.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of statewide operational plans, including performance indicators and outcome measures that address federal and state legislation and best practice standards.
  • Support the development, implementation, and oversight of special initiatives consistent with the direction of the Governor, the Legislature, the Secretary of the Department, and the Assistant Secretary of Child and Family Well-Being.
  • Assist in preparing reports, briefing sessions, seminars, and other media to communicate with the Assistant Secretary for Child and Family Well-Being, the Legislature, and the public regarding the current and future status of child protection.
  • Collaborate with other Department programs to integrate services of the Office of Child and Family Well-Being with other internal OCFW programs and departmental programs such as the Office of Quality and Innovation, Substance Abuse and Mental Health, and Economic Self-Sufficiency.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Higher
  • Active Child Welfare Certification through the Florida Certification Board
  • At least 5 years of experience in child welfare, including a minimum of 3 years specific to CPI
  • Microsoft Office applications, Florida Safe Families Network (FSFN)
