Your Specific Responsibilities:
This is an independent and complex administrative/consultative position assisting the Operations & Management Consultant Manager carrying out responsibilities necessary for the efficient functioning of MD Program Operations. This position is a highly analytical position that requires extensive knowledge of the Social Security Disability Program Determinations portion of the Title II and Title XVI of the Social Security Act.
Collects, compiles and analyzes management data from the Legacy System Management Reports, National Disability Determinations Services Systems, the Disability Operational Data Store, and other state and federal reports to identify potential problem areas or trends and provide feedback and recommendations for appropriate management actions to the OMC Mgr and the Bureau Chief of Program Operations. Creates database reports to highlight specific problems or trends or to provide a comparative analysis. Monitors individual area office performance to ensure operation and management practices are consistent with federal goals and standards. Complies and analyzes data for designated special reviews as requested by management or SSA. Maintains the management data reports for easy accessibility by other consultant staff.
Provides assistance to the OMC Mgr and the Bureau Chief of Program Operations in the daily coordination and oversight of program specific issues. Assists in monitoring personnel issues in operations; coordinates activities with the Program Administrators, Program Services and Administrative Services.
Provides research and technical assistance, consultation and support to management, to the operational units and SSA in tracking individual claims on the federal and state data systems. Compares federal and state data reports and makes corrections to reports; inputs claim information as required. Identifies any trends in error reporting and makes recommendations for resolution.
Plays a key role in federal workload sharing initiatives. Performs a wide variety of duties, to include the following: case assignment, liaison assistance for assistance requests, and case specific reviews. Assists in monitoring cases assigned to associated users and cases transferred to other Division of Disability Services sites.
Functions as the SSI/SSDI Outreach, Access, and Recovery (SOAR) liaison. Participates in calls with SOAR representatives. Educates staff on the SOAR program and processes. Assists examiners and SOAR case managers with case specific needs.
Performs related work as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
Knowledge of anatomy, physiology, function, dysfunction, and disease processes.
Knowledge of computer operation, and office automation equipment.
Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to the processing of Social Security disability benefits.
Preferred Qualifications:
Adjudicative experience with all Social Security disability claims types and levels (i.e., adult, child, Initial, Recon, CDR, EXR, PH, etc.)
A minimum of 3 years’ adjudicative experience.
Prior experience in which you reviewed and analyzed disability claims completed by others.
Prior experience actively and effectively collaborating with other agencies, offices, or organizations (i.e.. SSA, DOH, SOAR, DCF, congressional offices, etc.).
