Our Organization and Mission:

The Florida Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco licenses the manufacture, distribution, sale, and service of alcoholic beverage and tobacco products in Florida, including receipt and processing of license applications; collection and auditing of taxes and fees paid by licensees; and enforcement of the laws and regulation of the alcoholic beverage and tobacco industries, pursuant to Chapters 210, 561-565, 567-569, Florida Statutes. The division's three bureaus - Licensing, Auditing and Enforcement - comprise a team of approximately 330 personnel fulfilling the regulatory obligations of the division throughout the state.


The Work You Will Do:

This is an opportunity to serve as the Bureau of Law Enforcement’s Public Records, Fleet, and Accreditation Liaison within in the Chief’s Office in Tallahassee, FL.  As the Public Records Liaison, the team member, in coordination with the Office of the General Counsel, processes public records as defined in Florida statute timely.  Prior to the release of the records, the team member ensures all protected information is redacted pursuant to Chapter 119, Florida Statutes.

 

As the Bureau of Enforcement’s Fleet Liaison, the team member participates in selection, acquisition, maintenance, logistics, and equipping of both civilian and law enforcement vehicles.  The team member provides a monthly report to the Chief of Law Enforcement on the state of the fleet.  Same day travel is required, and possible overnight travel may be requested.

 

As the Accreditation Liaison, the team member will assist the Accreditation Manager in all aspects of the accreditation process including the collection of required data and documents statewide.

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This is a non-sworn career service position assigned to the Division of Alcoholic Beverages & Tobacco, Bureau of Law Enforcement, Chief’s Office in Tallahassee, FL.  Primary duties include: 

 

  • Ensures the Division’s fleet is compliant with Chapter 287, Florida Statutes, Chapter 60B-1, Florida Administrative Code, DBPR Policies, and BLE General orders through monthly updates and analyses.
  • Identifies vehicles approaching the Minimum Equipment Replacement Criteria (MERC) as provided by the Dept. of Management Services (DMS).
  • Ensures a replacement vehicle through transfer or purchase is completed timely to ensure no disruptions in operations.
  • Be in communication with the providing dealership and will ensure purchased vehicles are drop shipped to the area of assignment for equipment installation.
  • Ensures transponders, registrations, first aid kits, and fire extinguishers are assigned to individual fleet vehicles.
  • Responsible for identifying and reporting fleet vehicles requiring above average cost or frequent repairs or repairs that indicate the potential abuse of fleet assets and return on investment repair considerations.
  • Responsible for providing guidance to the District Fleet Custodians and ensuring that the custodians’ mandated reports are provided both timely and accurately.
  • Coordinates, maintains, tracks and follows-up with field offices on public records requests to ensure completion of the request within a timely manner.
  • Performs research, pulls records, redacts documents and invoices for public records requests and those holding interest of media.
  • Attends training and meetings with department and division public records custodians.
  • Makes recommendations for procedure/process changes to ensure that all of the State of Florida rules and regulations outlined in Chapter 119, FS are met.
  • Assist in accreditation related policy revisions.
  • Maintain the flow of accreditation assessment information for the Accreditation Manager.
  • Assist the Accreditation Manager in all aspects of the accreditation process.

Minimum Requirements: 

  • Must have a safe driving history
  • Must possess a current driver’s license
  • Must possess competency in the Microsoft Office Suite and the utilization of general database application programs
  • Must have experience fulfilling Public Records requests
  • Must possess excellent organizational skills in records and file management with both digital and hard copy files
  • Must have office procedures and practices experience
  • Must be able to travel same day or overnight as requested
  • Must be able to lift 40 pounds

 

Preferred:

  • Preference will be given to candidates with experience managing vehicle fleet operations.
