WORKING TITLE: OPERATIONS REVIEW SPECIALIST

This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in Tallahassee, FL in the Office of Programs and Re-Entry.

The mission of the Office of Programs and Re-Entry in the Florida Department of Corrections (FDC) is to provide comprehensive programs and services that support the rehabilitation and successful reintegration of inmates into society.

This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves.

 

JOB DUTIES:

  • Statewide Program Coordination: Coordinate and oversee the 7 Habits on the Inside program, including facilitator training and program delivery.
  • Facilitator Training: Serve as a trainer for facilitator training and maintain facilitator certification.
  • Institutional Communication: Communicate with institutional leadership on program implementation and compile related data.
  • Research and Best Practices: Conduct research on inmate programming and best practices in corrections.
  • Program Evaluation: Evaluate the effectiveness of programs and prepare detailed reports with recommendations.
  • Data Analysis: Analyze data from the 7 Habits on the Inside program and other specialized programs, preparing detailed reports with recommendations.
  • Grant Support: Prepare Letters of Support for external agencies seeking FDC support for grant opportunities and coordinate issue resolution.
  • Special Projects Liaison: Act as the Bureau and OPR contact for special projects and initiatives, collaborating with other sections and external agencies.

REQUIREMENTS:

Please note, when submitting a college/university degree, if selected for this position official transcripts will be required.

  • Must possess a high school diploma or its equivalent. 
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license.
  • Must be willing to travel up to 50% of your time as needed.
  • Must be trained as a facilitator in the 7 Habits on the Inside program.
  • Must have at least two (2) years of experience within the last ten (10) years as a Florida Department of Corrections Classification Officer or a minimum of 1 year within the last 3 years as a Florida Department of Corrections Wellness Specialist.
    • Postsecondary education may substitute for up to four (4) years of the required experience to go along with four years of professional experience in corrections conducting staff training or providing coaching, mentoring and technical support to staff regarding correctional systems or operations. Experience must be clearly indicated on the State of Florida application.

BACKGROUND SCREENING REQUIREMENT

The Florida Department of Corrections requires all job applicants and volunteers to pass a Level 2 background check as per Chapter 435, Florida Statutes. This check must be completed before they can start working or volunteering.
