FLORIDA DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH - OPEN COMPETITIVE OPPORTUNITY

 

The Florida Department of Health (DOH) is seeking a creative, organized, flexible, and motivated individual to become an essential member of our Public Health Reporting team as a part-time OPS Administrative Assistant II. This position provides administrative support for the Public Health Reporting section.

 

The successful incumbent will be responsible for the following:

  • Serves as the primary point of contact for administrative support for section staff.
  • Supports the development of program documents, communications, presentations and other informational materials related to the Public Health Reporting Section as assigned.
  • Assists the section administrator and unit managers with administrative-related tasks such as travel preparation, human resources, and any other assigned tasks.
  • Supports Public Health Reporting Section staff with special assignments, research, purchasing documents, and meeting planning/facilitation.
  • Prepares, reviews, routes, and tracks documents for section staff using electronic document routing and folder systems.
  • Assists with monitoring and tracking assignments using established spreadsheets.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains the Public Health Reporting section leave calendar and assists in scheduling section project meetings.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software including Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams, and PowerPoint.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and concisely with others in writing as indicated by the needs of the audience, using proper English spelling and grammar rules.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Ability to produce high-quality work under strict deadlines.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments.
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively as a team member, establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality, work collaboratively, and work with integrity.
  • Ability to perform required tasks, including strong attention to detail, flexibility, self-discipline, and workplace professionalism.
  • Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems.

 

Qualifications:

Minimum:

  • Experience working as part of a team.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft (MS) Outlook, Word, Excel, and Teams or similar programs.

 

Preferred:

  • Associate degree or higher. 
  • A minimum of two (2) years of administrative experience.
