The applicant hired for this position will normally be paid at the minimum hourly wage; however, education, experience, skills, and abilities will be taken into consideration.

YOU MUST HAVE THE FOLLOWING KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

 

  • Experience with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word and Outlook)
  • Ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to work independently and be detail-oriented

 

THE HIRED CANDIDATE WILL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FOLLOWING

 

  • Assisting with Department procurement and contracing by providing legal opinions, drafting and reviewing contracts
  • Serving as an appeals referee, including conducting hearings and issuing written decisions for appeals related to Florida's reemployment system
  • Reviewing and updating administrative policies and rules
  • Handling requests for public records and responding to subpoenas and court orders
  • Assisting in drafting and reviewing proposed legislation that will affect the Department's programs and review bills passed into law for applicability and effect on these programs
  • Conducting legal research and handling litigation related matters.. 
  • Performing other duties as assigned by the General Counsel, Deputy General Counsel, and Attorney Supervisors

 

THIS POSITION HAS THE FOLLOWING JOB-RELATED REQUIREMENTS

  • Juris Doctor from a law school accredited by the American Bar Association
  • Must be a member in good standing of The Florida Bar, or attain Bar membership within six (6) months of employment
