Position Overview and Responsibilities:

The Department is seeking a highly motivated professional to serve as a Benefits Clerk in the Member Services Unit. This position is essential to providing administrative support in a variety of Division projects and activities. The incumbent must possess a high degree of professionalism and will be required to exercise independent judgment in managing and coordinating a wide range of assignments and projects. The duties of this position require a high degree of confidentiality, accuracy, and adherence to timeframes.

 

General Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Providing administrative support for e-mailing, mailing, faxing, copying, scanning, and filing documents.
  • Imaging, filing, and long-term document storage for the Division.
  • Managing the Division mail pick-up, logging, distributing.
  • Serving as support for answering and assisting member calls to Division main telephone line.
  • Maintaining complete and accurate record of calls received to the Division main telephone line via the DSGI Customer Service Tracker.
  • Providing support with DSGI Help email, Weight and Diabetes Management email, and Open Enrollment email.
  • Researching, gathering, and providing information on member eligibility, effective dates, and other data.
  • Maintaining database/log of enrollment and eligibility appeals, assigns appeals, sends member appeal acknowledgement letter.
  • Assisting with application processing for the Weight Management and Diabetes Management Pilot programs.
  • Providing backup support for Open Enrollment.
  • Identifying member complaint trends and recommends educational or communication strategies to mitigate future complaints and issues.
  • Assisting with Medicare Secondary payer letters.
  • Assisting with Medicare Advantage Prescription Drug (MA-PD) discrepancy reports.

 

Other Duties:

  • Performs additional duties and projects assigned by management and provides cross-functional support to other DSGI work units for special projects and peak workload periods as required to support the Division’s operational needs.
  • Provides prompt, professional, and courteous customer service in response to all inquiries and requests for information received by DSGI.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of administrative office procedures and practices.
  • Knowledge of human resources or employee benefits experience.
  • Knowledge of using Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Outlook. 
  • Knowledge of inputting data into computer systems and applications.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Professional attitude with the ability to perform in a small business environment.
  • Ability to communicate effectively through verbal and written communication.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments so that deadlines are met.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or higher from an educational institution
  • One year of professional administrative and data processing experience.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
