The Work You Will Do:
This OPS position provides back-room IT logistics, asset management, and technical support services for the Department of Business and Professional Regulation (DBPR). The incumbent is responsible for receiving, inventorying, imaging, deploying, wiping, tracking, and auditing IT equipment, including desktops, laptops, peripherals, and related hardware.
The position requires basic IT knowledge, strong attention to detail, and the ability to follow documented procedures to ensure accuracy, security, and audit compliance. This role is primarily non-customer-facing and supports DBPR’s IT operations through asset lifecycle management and logistical coordination.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
IT Logistics & Asset Management:
- Receive, stage, inventory, and track IT equipment including desktops, laptops, monitors, printers, and peripherals
- Maintain accurate records of equipment using asset management and tracking systems
- Prepare new and redeployed equipment by imaging, configuring, labeling, and packaging devices
- Perform secure data wiping and sanitization of computer hard drives in accordance with documented security procedures
- Identify and verify hardware components and peripheral compatibility
- Coordinate equipment deployment, recovery, refresh, and surplus activities
Compliance, Documentation & Audits:
- Ensure all IT assets are accurately documented and auditable
- Follow established IT policies, procedures, and checklists to ensure consistency and compliance
- Assist with internal and external audits by providing inventory records and documentation
- Maintain orderly storage areas and ensure physical security of IT equipment
Technical Support (Limited / Non-Customer Facing)
- Perform basic hardware diagnostics to determine repair, redeployment, or disposal
- Assist IT staff with workstation setup, teardown, and reconfiguration
- Escalate technical issues beyond scope to appropriate IT teams
General Responsibilities
- Maintain a high level of accuracy, organization, and attention to detail
- Handle sensitive equipment and data responsibly
- Perform related duties as assigned
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of basic computer hardware and common peripherals
- Knowledge of Windows operating systems
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office or O365 applications
- Ability to follow detailed written procedures
- Ability to accurately document work and maintain records
- Ability to identify hardware components and serial numbers
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Ability to lift, move, and organize IT equipment
Minimum Requirements:
- Experience performing inventory, logistics, warehouse, or asset tracking duties in an IT, technical, or operational environment; and
- Basic experience working with computer hardware and peripherals (e.g., desktops, laptops, monitors, docking stations, keyboards, mice, printers); and
- Basic experience using the Windows operating system; and
- Basic experience using office productivity software (Microsoft Office or O365); and
- Experience following written procedures or checklists with attention to detail; and
- Ability to accurately document work performed in a tracking or ticketing system; and
- Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds; and
- Ability to kneel, bend, reach, and climb a ladder as required.

Preferred:
- Experience working in an IT asset management, deployment, or logistics role
- Experience imaging or reimaging computers (manual or automated tools)
- Experience wiping or sanitizing hard drives in accordance with security standards
- Experience using an IT ticketing, asset, or tracking system
- Experience supporting Help Desk or IT operations teams
- Familiarity with Active Directory concepts (user accounts, computer objects)
