CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

  • A high school diploma or its equivalent and four (4) years of experience in systems networking, systems administration, two years of which must have been in systems administrator; or A bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in one of the computer sciences, management information systems, systems administrator, or information technology. 
  • College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required non-systems administrator experience, provided such education includes two courses in one of the areas described above. 
  • Vocational/technical training in one of the areas described above can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours per year for a maximum of two years of the required non-systems administrator experience.  Completion of a vendor-supplied program of study of four or more weeks in systems administration can substitute for one year of the required experience.
  • Requires possession of a valid Driver's License.
  • Position requires travel as needed.

Description of Position:

The Florida State Guard (FSG) is seeking a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Systems Administrator Specialist to support and manage the organization’s Microsoft-based infrastructure. This role is responsible for administrating Microsoft Entra ID, Microsoft Intune, systems permissions, and SharePoint environments to ensure secure, efficient, and compliant operations across the enterprise.

 

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Administer and maintain Microsoft Entra ID, including user lifecycle management, group policies, and role-based access control.
  • Configure and manage Microsoft Intune for endpoint management, mobile device management (MDM), and compliance policies.
  • Manage system and application permissions, ensuring appropriate access and adherence to security best practices.
  • Oversee SharePoint Online administration, including site creation, permission structures, content management, and integration with Microsoft 365 services.
  • Monitor and support identity and access management, including MFA, conditional access, and single sign-on (SSO) configurations.
  • Collaborate with IT and security teams to maintain compliance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  • Provide technical support and troubleshooting for issues related to identity, devices, and Microsoft 365 services.
  • Maintain documentation of configurations, procedures, and system changes.

 

ADDITIONAL RESPONSIBILITIES (not limited to):

  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding processes and automation.
  • Participate in patch management, updates, and system performance monitoring.
  • Support data governance, retention, and security policies within Microsoft 365.
  • Stay up to date with Microsoft ecosystem developments and recommend improvements.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of conceptual understanding of enterprise WAN and LAN networking technologies and architectures.
  • Knowledge of security best practices to evaluate security risks, and mitigation strategies.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Products, including Operations Systems, Office Suite and Outlook in a networked environment.
  • Knowledge of understanding computers, mobile devices, networks, and antivirus software.
  • Skills at installing and providing technical support for software applications and operating systems.
  • Analytical and problem-solving skills to assist in the investigation and resolution of security events/incidents.
  • Ability in understanding product roadmaps and industry trends.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.
  • Ability to read, understand, and comply with the department’s policies, procedures, guidelines, and practices relating to industry standards.
