POSITION SUMMARY:
This position is in the Bureau of Training, reporting to the Post-Basic Curriculum section. This is a full-time position that works closely with subject-matter experts to create classroom and online training for criminal justice officers across the state of Florida. This position requires the ability to work in a collaborative writing and design environment to develop curriculum and visual learning aids specifically for adult learners. The position also requires the ability to communicate visually with Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign (minimum 2 of 3).
DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Specific duties include:
- Developing curriculum, to include goals and objectives, classroom courses, and online learning modules;
- Planning, coordinating, facilitating and delivering formal and informal presentations, meetings and/or workshops;
- Assisting the editors with textbook layout and cover design;
- Producing infographics and other visual learning aids in support of the curriculum;
- Assisting in the research and analysis of the effectiveness of training programs using summative and formative methods;
- Assisting in the research and design of a detailed plan to support Criminal Justice Standards and Training Commission approved training courses; and
- Assisting in the development and/or revision of legislation and/or Florida Administrative Code Rules effecting law enforcement, corrections, and correctional probation officer training.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
- Knowledge of principles of effective design for web-based and instructor-led training;
- Skills in developing visual learning aids;
- Knowledge of the principles of human behavior, learning and communication;
- Knowledge of instructional design, research, and implementation methodologies;
- Skills in compiling and analyzing data relating to the development of training programs;
- Ability to understand and apply applicable laws, rules, regulations policies and procedures relating to the development of training programs;
- Ability to work independently;
- Ability to prepare professional papers, research studies and reports;
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
- Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing; and
- Ability to quickly learn new technologies and systems.

BASE SALARY:
- $27.24/hour
ASSIGNMENT:
In order to proceed in the selection process, you must submit your assignment to Curriculum@fdle.state.fl.us no later than noon on 01/27/2025.
Instructions:
Develop a one-page infographic about a process you know well (for example, building a bookcase, changing a tire, cooking your favorite dish, teaching your pet a trick, etc.). The audience for your infographic is primarily adults with at least a high school education, but who have no knowledge about the topic. You should be able to develop this from your own knowledge and experience but cite your sources if you do any research. All writing and graphics must be your own original work.
Create a one-page infographic on your topic (use a second page if citing sources). You are free to design the infographic any way you like, but must inlcude:
- A title for the infographic;
- Your name somewhere at the bottom of the infographic;
- An overview of your topic (100-150 words); and
- Original graphics (e.g., illustration, photography, etc.) that clearly explain the concept.
The topic overview and any text that accompanies the graphics should be no less than 100 words, and should support the graphics and vice versa. (The graphics and the written portion should complement each other.)
- Write in plain English;
- Use active voice; and
- Avoid jargon and define terms that might be unfamiliar to your audience.

Starting hourly salary will be the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE’s pay policy. FDLE is a State of Florida Employer and offers a comprehensive OPS benefits package (ONLY available to OPS members who will be working 30 or more hours a week), including:
