Position Overview and Responsibilities
Assist the Environmental Health and Safety / ADA Coordinator with data tracking, document management, research, and review related to the following: Asbestos and Lead Materials; Fuel Storage Tank Management Systems; Hazardous Waste Management, Transportation, & Disposal Management; Indoor Air Quality Investigations; Chemical & Hazardous Materials Facility ; Stormwater and Reuse Water Management.
Asbestos and Lead Materials
- Assist in planning and delivering materials for “Right to Know” meetings with buildings tenants and occupants concerning asbestos and lead projects in their facility.
- Review of existing asbestos surveys, management plans for both current and future projects.
Underground & Above ground Fuel Storage Tank Management Systems:
- Assist in review of DEP compliance inspections for DMS owned ASTs and USTs.
- Assist in implementation of SPCC plans for DMS owned ASTs and USTs.
Hazardous Waste Management, Transportation, & Disposal:
- Assist with data tracking for operation of hazardous waste management program with on-going modifications as warranted by state and federal regulatory authority.
- Participate in the audit and verification of hazardous waste contractors for packing, transportation, treatment methods, and final waste facility deposit destination.
Indoor Air Quality Investigations & IAQ Prevention Program:
- Help with tracking and storage of report documents from IAQ investigations.
Chemical & Hazardous Materials Facility Inventory Management:
- Assist in review and evaluation of all material safety data sheets (MSDS) for potential toxic concentrations of chemicals, pesticides, herbicides, and hazardous substances, dilution, and application guidelines, and for compliance with Florida’s Right to Know” and Federal Hazard Communication Standard.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of asbestos and lead materials.
- Knowledge of indoor air quality.
- Knowledge of hazardous waste management.
- Knowledge of Fuel Storage Tank Management Systems.
- Ability to communicate professionally and effectively both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to exercise initiative, good judgment, and discretion.
- Ability to learn new skills.
- Ability to utilize problem-solving and decision-making skills to reach an acceptable outcome.
- Ability to accurately prioritize tasks under pressure to meet deadlines.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid Class E Driver’s License.
- Demonstrable experience related to the duties and responsibilites of this position.
