The Work You Will Do:

This 40-hour a week OPS Environmental Specialist I position will be part of a team within the Coastal Management Program administering the Clean Marina Program, the Coastal Access Guide and supporting regional meetings.

This position will interact with clean marina, aquatic preserve and beaches field staff within the Department. This position will help maintain databases, map resources and provide up-to-date information and resources to Florida citizens.

Pay:

$22.00 per hour

 

Your Specific Responsibilities:

This position will receive new clean marina applications, process those applications and maintain the database of current and new marinas for the Department. In addition, the position will review and update existing location and amenity information on public beach access points in the existing Florida Coastal Access guide through coordination with Department field staff, County Officials and the public. The databases for both the clean marina and the Access Guide, through coordination with Department GIS specialists, will be translated into maps.

 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to demonstrate high levels of computer literacy and efficacy with the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work as part of a team.
  • Ability to interact with supervisors, coworkers and the public in a tactful and courteous manner.
  • Ability to be adaptable, flexible, resourceful and to maintain a positive outlook
  • Ability to travel, including single-day and multi-day trips.

 

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with GIS projects
  • Knowledge of database management

 

Required or Preferred Qualifications: the minimum required or preferred qualifications necessary to be successful in the position.

A bachelor's degree in science from an accredited college or university; or any combination of post-secondary education or verifiable related experience, as described in this posting, for a total of four years.
