OPS GIS Infrastructure Architect (Working Title)

 

The Florida Department of Environmental Protection's Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is currently recruiting for a GIS Infrastructure Architect. This varied and highly responsible position involves technical work supporting the Enterprise Geographic Information Systems Section, Enterprise Applications.

 

EXAMPLES OF WORK PERFORMED:

  • ArcGIS server upgrade
  • License server administration
  • Server patch management
  • Software, database, and web service troubleshooting
  • ArcGIS services administration
  • ArcGIS server and portal implementation and administration
  • Performs related work as required

     

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of ORACLE stored procedures, triggers and SQL scripts
  • Knowledge of SDE command line tools
  • Knowledge of geodatabase functionality, including storage types
  • Knowledge of GIS industry trends
  • Skill in managing GIS web monitoring, web GIS security, and troubleshooting
  • Ability to translate industry trends into a plan for DEP infrastructure to meet future needs
  • Ability to design, develop and implement procedures for the administration of the GIS database
  • Ability to create and maintain scope of work and graphical design references
  • Ability to work with a multi-disciplinary group from different agencies to support the infrastructure.

 

Preference will be given to applicants with ESRI Systems Design or ESRI Administration certification.  Preference will also be given to applicants with documented experience with enterprise GIS infrastructure and GISP certification.

 

  • Five years of experience architecting, implementing, and administrating enterprise IT-GIS solutions/systems that leverage the ArcGIS enterprise platform (desktop, server, and online)
  • Five or more years of hands-on experience with Esri software including ArcGIS Enterprise, ArcGIS Desktop, ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Runtime, and their associated APIs or interfaces
  • Experience in platform architecture, solution design, project envisioning, planning, developing, deployment, security, identity management frameworks, cloud, and scalability
  • Experience with Oracle; Microsoft SQL, PL/SQL; and/or other RDBMS and Windows, and/or other server environments
  • Programming and scripting experience with Python and VB
  • Experience with current technology implementation patterns including service-oriented architectures and cloud hybrid configurations
  • Ability to clearly communicate technical idea both verbally and in written form, whether to customers, executives, or other technical or non-technical peers

     

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field.
