POSITION SUMMARY:

This position assists with the administration and resolution of operational and management problems as they relate to the activities of Offender Registry Services (ORS). Additionally, this position applies extensive analytical and legal research, interpretive skills and techniques, and application of highly technical state and federal law. This position uses numerous investigative and informational sources/databases and completes extremely high liability work. It provides research analysis relative to state and national laws and rules and regulations that directly or indirectly have an impact on implementation and operations of Florida’s Sexual Offender/Predator Registry. This position also serves as liaison with criminal justice partners and the public to provide information regarding sexual offender/predator information in order to promote public safety. Its entire focus is in support of Florida’s sexual predator/offender program.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Applying sexual offender/predator registration laws to individuals with a sexual offense conviction or those required to register in another state/jurisdiction;
  • Processing incoming diligent search requests (receiving, logging, verifying, and assigning) to Offender Enforcement and Apprehension (OEA) members;
  • Responding to the ORS Sexual pred mailbox and career offender emails;
  • Assisting with managing the United States Department of Justice Sex Offender Registration and Notification Act (SORNA) Exchange Portal;
  • Assisting with the Career Offender Registry, including processing career offender registration forms and running career offender reports;
  • Providing support to all ORS analysts, Bureau Chief, SAC, ASAC, Special Agent Supervisor, and Enforcement and Investigative Support (EIS) Inspectors on noncompliant/absconded sexual offenders/predators/career offenders; and
  • Providing assistance to the supervisor and other ORS staff on administrative matters (e.g. Quality control issues, address verification, etc.) and related duties as needed.

  • Knowledge of administrative principles and practices;
  • Knowledge of office procedures and practices;        
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;         
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication;
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to administrative functions;
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
  • Knowledge of basic arithmetic;
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner;
  • Ability to perform basic arithmetical calculations; and
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.

BASE SALARY:

  • $25.41/hour
