Position Overview and Responsibilities:
The Bureau of Design and Construction (BDC) is seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Design Section to provide support to our dynamic design team. This position will schedule up to 40 hours per week.
Provide assistance and support to the BDC Design Project Manager staff, including, but not limited to:
- Assisting with the planning and design of park infrastructure, including roadways, facilities, drainage structures, etc.
- Assisting with cost estimating; tracking, reporting and communication of project status and other details.
- Assisting with onsite project inspections.
- Preparing and reviewing change orders and other contractual documents for compliance and accuracy.
- Assisting with the review and processing of invoices in accordance with Finance and Accounting procedures.
- Maintaining project files in a neatly organized condition.
- Assisting with design tracking, reporting and other communication requirements.
- Participating in special projects and tasks.
- Perform other duties as required.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Knowledge in:
- Basic building construction.
- Contract management and administration.
- General administrative concepts.
Skill in:
- Microsoft Office suite.
- Effective communication techniques.
- Problem solving.
- Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with others.
- Understanding and applying applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures.
Ability to:
- Manage time effectively.
- Review, analyze and evaluate data.
- Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Maintain organized files.
- Work well independently and as a team.
- Apply problem solving techniques.
- Maintain a valid driver license.
- Travel occasionally.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Valid driver license.
Preferred Qualifications:
Knowledge of:
- Architecture/engineering design, construction, production and/or operations.
- The principles of land use, site planning and design.
3+ years’ experience in professional design project management, engineering, construction, or related field.
Pay:
$17.00 - $20.00 per hour (commensurate with experience)
