Your Specific Responsibilities:

OPS GOVERNMENT OPERATIONS CONSULTANT I

SUMMARY OF JOB DUTIES

This position performs independent and consultative work department wide relative to equal opportunity in employment and service delivery.  The employee in this position uses discretion and independent judgement in reviewing reasonable accommodation requests pursuant to the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA), and Title VII of the Civil Rights Act of 1964, as amended.   

Assists the Equal Opportunity Manager with the intake of discrimination complaints and reasonable accommodation requests. 

Conducts investigations to respond to external complaints of discrimination filed with the U.S. Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and the Florida Commission on Human Relations and conducts internal investigations related to discrimination allegations in employment and service delivery. 

Provides technical assistance and guidance to department staff related to equal opportunity in employment and service delivery. 

Assists with the review and implementation of the Language and Disability Access Plan.

Assists with the review, development, and implementation of equal opportunity polices. 

Develops and presents training to department staff on nondiscrimination in employment and service delivery. 

Performs other duties as assigned. 

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Possess a Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university or relevant experience determined by the agency. 

Basic knowledge of major personnel programs including equal employment opportunity and affirmative action, employee recruitment and selection, employer/employee relations, classification and pay, exam development and selection system validation. 

 

Knowledge of the basic principles of public administration

Knowledge of methods of collection and analyses of evidence

Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication and proficiency in the English language

Ability to conduct fact-finding research, understand and apply relevant state and federal laws, regulations, statutes, codes policies and procedures relating to program functions and non-discrimination in client services and equal employment opportunity

Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data relating to program functions and to develop alternative recommendations

Ability to prepare reports relating to program functions, including affirmative action plans and updates

Ability to work independently

Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments

Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships

Ability to communicate effectively

Ability to develop and provide training

Knowledge of Microsoft Office software
