POSITION SUMMARY:

This position is in the Strategic Justice Programs division, reporting to the Policy & Case Analysis team. The incumbent will apply research and interpretive skills and techniques, communicate with other criminal justice agencies, and use investigative, intelligence, and informational sources/data bases to provide assistance to Policy & Case Analysis Team (PCAT) members. The focus of this position is in support of Florida’s sexual predator/offender program.

 

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific duties include:

  • Understanding and applying sexual offender/predator registration laws to individuals with a sexual offense conviction or those required to register in another state/jurisdiction;
  • Requesting court and arrest documentation from law enforcement and clerk of court offices;
  • Assisting with court filing for pending litigation;
  • Working with management on implementation of changes to Florida’s sexual offender/predator registration laws;
  • Conducting administrative functions on case reviews, including input of new cases into the case review system and pulling data as needed regarding department performance measures;
  • Independently coordinating and communicating with other criminal justice agencies to request, review, and analyze criminal history information;
  • Tracking record requests and follow-ups in the secure sexual offender/predator database;
  • Inputting and assigning case reviews to other PCAT members; and
  • Correctly applying appropriate Florida Statues and Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) policies and procedures to dissemination of criminal justice information.

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the basic principles and practices of law enforcement and the criminal justice system;
  • Knowledge of office procedures and practices;
  • Knowledge of law enforcement telecommunications systems;
  • Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication;
  • Knowledge of the methods of data collection;
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others;
  • Ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing;
  • Ability to determine work priorities and insure proper completion of assignments;
  • Ability to operate personal computers and networked communications systems;
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures;
  • Ability to work independently;
  • Ability to deal with the public in a tactful, courteous, and effective manner; and
  • Ability to utilize problem solving techniques.

BASE SALARY:

  • $19.81/hour

Starting hourly salary will be the minimum of the class pay range, unless otherwise dictated by FDLE’s pay policy. FDLE is a State of Florida Employer and offers a comprehensive OPS benefits package (ONLY available to OPS members who will be working 30 or more hours a week), including:

BACKGROUND:

FDLE requires an extensive background process of all recommended applicants. The elements of a background include: financial credit check, criminal history of applicant and applicant’s immediate family or roommates, personal references, employment and education verifications (which includes official transcript(s)), drug screen and fingerprinting.  This information will be utilized to make the final hiring decision.

 

NOTES:

Preference will be given to current FDLE members who have satisfactorily completed at least six months of the probationary period for their current position.
