Requirements:

Employment in this position is contingent upon a satisfactory criminal history check (fingerprint-based) in accordance with Chapter 435, Florida Statutes.

Office hours are from 8:00 A.M. to 5:00 P.M. Eastern Standard Time, Monday through Friday. Not eligible for Telework.

Minimum Qualifications:

A minimum of two (2) years of experience in the art/graphic industry, or; an associate’s degree or completion of a program of study in Art/Graphic Design from an accredited learning institution such as a vocational/technical school, commercial art school, or community college.

 

Preferred Qualifications:

Preference will be given to candidates with the following qualifications:

Four (4) years of experience in the art/graphic industry, or; a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in art and/or graphic design.

 

Overview:

To further its mission the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is seeking a highly motivated candidate to serve as an OPS Graphics Specialist in the Office of Communications (OC). OC coordinates the public-communication efforts of FWC’s divisions and offices. The successful candidate for the OPS Graphics Specialist position will be proactive and passionate about the agency’s success and the public’s perception of FWC. This is an exciting opportunity for a talented individual who has a passion for creating dynamic digital art and content. The successful candidate will be an integral member of the Communications team working on a wide variety of projects related to FWC’s mission.

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produces outreach materials including infographics, flyers, brochures, rack cards, interpretive panels, entrance signs, advertisements, logos, vehicle wraps, memes/gifs, and other communications tools.
  • Produces work that includes strong illustration and composition, use of color management and theory, file management and formatting for print, digital (social media and web), photo and video.
  • Collaborates with the Multimedia Services team, division communications teams, and program coordinators as and when needed.
  • Creates or revises documents to ensure they comply with the American Disabilities Act.
  • Develops printing specifications, manages bid process, and is responsible for timely and accurate distribution of vendor invoices to appropriate staff.
  • Maintains graphics, artwork, photo files so they can be quickly and easily accessed by the Multimedia Services team as and when needed.
  • Stays up to date with current and new industry technologies.
  • Works on multiple projects under tight deadlines, maintains strong communications and client consultation skills and acts as a liaison between staff, manager, and vendors.
  • Assists with coordination of production elements to ensure all deadlines are met.
  • Responsible for adhering to the provisions and requirements of Section 215.422, F.S., related to State Comptroller’s rules, as well as Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission invoice processing and warrant distribution procedures.
  • Actively garner public support for agency objectives and programs by serving Florida’s citizens in a positive and proactive manner.
  • Performs other tasks as required.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Skilled in illustrating people, landscapes, structures, and fish and wildlife species.
  • Skilled in preparing, sizing, and arranging original artwork.
  • Skilled in preparing photographs for printed and web publication.
  • Skilled in designing and laying out copy for production.
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, strong critical thinking, and the ability to coordinate multiple projects at one time.
  • Ability to use Adobe Creative Cloud Apps such as Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign, After Effects and Premiere Pro.
  • Ability to use Microsoft 365 apps including Microsoft Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, and SharePoint.
  • Ability to listen effectively, understand and evaluate information/data.
  • Ability to take detailed notes, plan, organize, coordinate and complete work assignments and projects according to established deadlines.
  • Ability to quickly and effectively prioritize and process information and requests from external and internal sources.
  • Ability to communicate in a positive manner and build relationships with a variety of professionals including staff and vendors.
  • Ability to provide excellent customer service and establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
