OPS Office Automation Specialist I
$20.00 per hour
This position requires working in the office. It is not a position which will allow the option of telework.
Duties and Responsibilities:
This is an OPS position. The work is mainly data entry from disease reports or lab results into the State’s database of reported sexually transmitted diseases: Surveillance Tools and Reporting System (STARS). Another duty is to answer and route phone calls to the appropriate person within the section. Since job duties require the employee to be in the office, teleworking is not an option.
Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Searching, reviewing, and entering information into the surveillance application.
- Scanning, downloading, and faxing.
- Answering and forwarding phone calls.
- May be required to work during or beyond normal work hours or days in the event of an emergency. Emergency duty required of the incumbent includes working in Special Needs Shelters, or to perform other emergency duties including but not limited to responses to or threats involving any disaster or threat of disaster, manmade or natural.
- Performs other duties as required.
Knowledge, skills and abilities, including utilization of equipment, required for the position:
- Knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
- Knowledge of Microsoft Office (e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Ability to operate office equipment such as a personal computer, multi-line telephone, scanner, printer, Xerox machine, and facsimile.
- Ability to prioritize workloads.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to communicate with others in writing and verbally.
- Ability to practice good work ethics including reporting to work on time, wearing appropriate FDOH identification at all times, and treating others with dignity and respect.
- Ability to ensure proper completion of work assignments.
- Ability to establish a good working relationship with co-workers.
- Knowledge to seek consultation from supervisor when needed.
Preferred:
1 year of prior data entry experience
