Your Specific Responsibilities:
- Assist in reviewing comprehensive plan amendments for consistency with Chapters 163, Part II and 380 Part I, Florida Statutes.
- Prepare reports summarizing the review, including identifying issues, analyzing consistency with growth management laws, identifying strategies to achieve consistency with state laws and making recommendations for resolving issues with local governments and interested parties.
- Other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of urban and regional planning concepts.
- Knowledge of growth management.
- Ability to understand and apply Chapters 163, Part II Florida Statutes.
- Ability to understand and apply Chapters 380, Part II Florida Statutes.
- Ability to learn Geographic Information Systems.
- Skills in both written and verbal communication.
- Ability to establish effective working relationships and negotiate effectively.
- Ability to perform word processing on a personal computer.
- Ability to apply planning methodologies, such as population projection.
- Ability to apply critical thinking for most planning problems.
- Ability to independently exercise sound judgment performing duties.
- Ability to handle multiple projects and manage time efficiently.
- Ability to provide technical assistance to local governments.

The Work You Will Do:
This is an OPS Planning Analyst position. Under supervision, this position is responsible for implementing the Local Government Comprehensive Planning Program (Chapter 163, Part II, Florida Statutes). This position is responsible for assisting conduct in-depth reviews of projects requiring a broad knowledge and expertise in planning principles and techniques and the use of independent judgment.
