High School diploma or its equivalent is required.

 

Preferences:

  • One (1) or more years of professional accounting or auditing experience.
  • Experience with preparing or reviewing Financial Statements.
  • Experience working with Governmental accounting records.
  • Experience with data reconciliation.
  • Experience analyzing information in a structured format, utilizing traditional and/or computer-based tools for data analysis.
  • Experience using Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

Knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles. Ability to communicate effectively. Ability to use logic and analysis to identify strengths or weaknesses. Ability to research and interpret laws and rules. Ability to collect, evaluate, and analyze data to develop alternative recommendations, solve problems, document workflow, and perform other activities relating to the improvement of management practices. Ability to organize data into a logical format for presentation in reports, documents, and other written materials. Ability to conduct fact-finding research. Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques. Ability to work independently. Ability to plan, organize, and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively, as well as establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

 

SPECIAL NOTES:

This is an in-office Monday through Friday, 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week position with no telework offered.

 

This position will be hired at $24.00 per hour.

 

Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle. 

 

This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

This is a professional position. It includes responsibilities linked to procedures adopted by the Department, the Division and the Bureau. The Procedures are of the internal control structure used to provide reasonable assurance that objectives are met. This position shall use, comply with, and if needed, improve these controls and suggest updates to the procedures in the performance of duties. This position will assist the Administrator to efficiently and effectively achieve all operating objectives. This position will also assist the Administrator in accomplishing the Chief Financial Officer’s constitutional and statutory duties of accounting for state funds.

 

This is a highly responsible position that works with the Office of Policy and Budget, Legislative Appropriations Systems/Planning, Budgeting System (LAS/PBS), and State Agencies, ensuring that the annual budget, daily budget amendments, emergency budget amendments, and other budget-related activities are precisely accomplished in compliance with Legislatively mandated laws, statutes, and rules.
