Position Overview and Responsibilities:
DEP’s Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is currently recruiting for an OPS Senior IT Business Consultant. This is a technical position on the Department’s Geographic Information Systems (GIS) team. Employees of OTIS are required to demonstrate total commitment to outstanding customer service. This includes, but is not limited to, acting in a responsive, professional, and courteous manner at all times with the employees, customers, and public we serve, and performing related work as needed and specified to carry out the goals of the agency.
Specific duties and responsibilities of this position include:
- Provides GIS technical support to the OTIS Tier I and Tier II staff, and acts as the primary contact for the OTIS-GIS Help Desk. Troubleshoots software, hardware, and web application issues reported by staff as they relate to FDEP’s GIS resources. Creates complete records in the Cherwell Help Desk tracking system and documents Esri-known bugs and future enhancements that may impact FDEP GIS users.
- Acts as a resource for GIS infrastructure upgrades and monitoring in coordination with other OTIS staff on the Systems and GIS teams. Provides back up to the infrastructure lead. Works with the GIS and Esri teams to troubleshoot infrastructure problems, implement fixes, and take training to stay current on new releases and bug fixes.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Knowledge of Esri geographic information software including the ArcGIS Online suite.
- Knowledge of cartographic and geospatial principals including geospatial open data.
- Knowledge of relational data base structures.
- Knowledge of spatial data analysis techniques.
- Ability to maintain a knowledge of established policies, procedures, and directives necessary to accomplish assignments and responsibilities.
- Skill at searching designated technical resources for information on software upgrades, bug fixes, and patches.
- Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.
- Ability to communicate technical information effectively.
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Experience with Esri geographic information software including the ArcGIS Online suite.
- Knowledge of and experience with cartographic and geospatial principals including geospatial open data.
Position of Special Trust Requirement:
This position is designated as a Position of Special Trust in accordance with DEP Directive 422, Positions of Special Trust or Responsibility. Successful completion of background screening will be required for this position.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with Esri desktop products
- Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise
- Experience troubleshooting GIS software issues
- Current GISP certification
Pay:
$33.00 - $37.24 Hourly
