The Florida Commission on Human Relations is the state agency charged with enforcing the state’s civil rights laws and serves as a resource on human relations for the people of Florida. What will I be doing?

The OPS Staff Assistant is a highly professional position performed under the supervision of an Intake Supervisor.  Specific Responsibilities include:

 

Receives and inputs case docketing information into Actionstep and Agency Records Center (ARC), generates and mails case notification documents to parties and transfers case to appropriate Investigation Manager.

Receives and inputs case referral information int the Agency Records Center (ARC), generates referral notices into Actionstep and upload referral notification documents to appropriate EEOC Office.

Provides backup to the front desk receptionist and assists with transferring and answering telephones, greeting, and announcing visitors; research Actionstep to ensure that calls are transferred appropriately, and hand delivered packages and mail are date stamped and delivered to the appropriate staff.

 

Qualifications

 

The successful candidate must demonstrate the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:

 

  • Knowledge of general office procedures practices, correct grammar usage, and basic arithmetic
  • Skilled in using logic and reasoning
  • Skilled in utilizing techniques of active listening
  • Ability to collect, evaluate and analyze data relating to administrative functions such as accounting, personnel, purchasing or report writing
  • Ability to prepare correspondence and administrative reports
  • Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures. 
  • Ability to utilize problem-solving techniques
  • Ability to work independently
  • Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others


Preferences

 

Preference will be given to those individuals who possess an associate’s degree and one (1) year of experience in any of the following fields: investigative work, Employment Investigations, or administrative.
