JOB DESCRIPTION:
The Boating Safety Specialist position is responsible for the temporary certificate program and the livery operator permit program. The position also performs public outreach and self-initiated, independent work relating to Florida's boating safety program. The position will also assist in teaching/presenting information regarding the temporary certificate program and livery operator permit program. The position may occasionally require overnight travel to attend training or conferences. The position will be required to track legislative changes which would affect the programs the incumbent is responsible for. This would include creating administrative rule language to accommodate any necessary changes to the programs. This position would also provide administrative support by answering incoming calls, preparing reports, handling information requests, assisting constituents and performing administrative and clerical functions such as preparing correspondence and answering e-mails.
HOURLY RATE OF PAY:
$20.00 per hour / 32 to 40 hours per week
EXAMPLES OF WORK:
Operate and maintain the Temporary Certificate Program.
Operate and maintain the Livery Operator Permit program.
Prepare administrative rule language as needed.
Assist in preparing Commission meeting documents.
Present livery permit training to internal staff.
Present livery permit information and training to external stakeholders.
Assists in answering the main Boating & Waterways Section telephone line.
Issues boating safety ID cards.
Coordinates with sub-contractors processing new applicants for the temporary certificate program.
Assists with implementation and management of boating safety awareness campaigns statewide.
Prepares and maintains records and reports, such as recommendations for solutions of administrative problems, reports, financial reports, applications, and administrative orders.
Files, maintains, arranges for storage, retrieves, or reproduces documents, records and reports in accordance with public records retention requirements.
Maintains various databases.
Analyzes operating practices and procedures to improve workflow, simplify reporting procedures and/or implement cost savings.
Reads and responds to correspondence.
Assists with preparation of publications and other materials.
Mailout of various publications and materials.
