The Florida Fish & Wildlife Conservation Commission, Division of Freshwater Fisheries is seeking a part-time staff assistant to assist the division’s Human Resource (HR) liaison. The selected applicant must be professional, dependable and willing to help others.





  • Maintain confidentiality in all sensitive and confidential matters and safeguard records.
  • Compile and maintain paperwork for New Hire and Separation personnel actions.
  • Responsible for HR files: filing, maintaining personnel files, purging per retention schedule.
  • Assist with biweekly timesheet approvals.
  • Run biweekly, monthly and biannual reports in People First.
  • Assists with updating position descriptions.



  • Responsible for payment of monthly DMS invoices, which may include maintaining master list of communications for the division.
  • Filing other documents for the Director’s Office; helping with creation of electronic filing system.


    20 hours per week; Monday through Friday. Applicant must successfully pass background criminal history check.



  • A high school diploma or its equivalent is required and two years of secretarial or clerical work experience.
  • Vocational/technical training in secretarial or office/business studies can substitute at the rate of 720 classroom hours for each year of the required work experience.
  • College education from an accredited institution can substitute at the rate of 30 semester hours or 45 quarter hours for each year of the required work experience.



  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and Adobe.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate well with others, both verbally and in writing.



    WHAT IS OPS EMPLOYMENT?  Other Personal Services (OPS) temporary employer/employee relationship used solely for accomplishing short term or intermittent tasks. OPS employees do not fill established positions and may not be assigned the duties of any vacant authorized position.  OPS employees are at-will employees and are subject to actions such as pay changes, changes to work assignment and terminations at the pleasure of the agency head or designee.
