How you will make an impact:
The Personnel Services Specialist will manage all compliance reports, Performance Management and Unemployment Claims for the employee relations and performance management activities. The incumbent will provide effective consultation and guidance in areas of unemployment claims, employee background screening policies, drug testing policies, vehicle insurance allowance and performance management activities, apply applicable laws, rules, policies, procedures, and guidelines accordingly to support the administration and operation of all programs, benefits, and services administered by the Department of Children and Families.
What you will do:
- Work with statewide leadership teams to ensure that applicable employee background checks and drug screenings are completed at a time in accordance with State law, personnel rules and departmental policies. Ensure that applicable data systems are timely and accurately updated as required.
- Provide quality assistance to statewide administration in completing operational and management activities including, but not limited to, Drug Free Workplace, background screening policies, and Driving as a condition of employment.
- Review and research unemployment compensation claims. Respond back to Department of Commerce timely and accurately. Notify team members of all scheduled hearings and claims to appeal.
- Review and research Department of Motor Vehicle report via DAVID website and People First. Notify team members of invalid licenses and unknown employees from the list. Complete and update report and People First of findings as appropriate. Notify Strategic Planning Team of employees with suspended or expired licenses for Vehicle Insurance Allowance purposes.
- Work effectively with supervisors and managers on performance management. Assist with timely documentation of performance criteria. Advise supervisors on the use and implementation of performance evaluation instruments and processes. Monitor and track performance evaluations on a timely basis.
- Timely prepare and distribute various management reports to local leadership teams.
- Timely and accurately update statewide Disciplinary Action Report.
Qualifications:
- Two years of experience working with Adobe / Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Power Point)
- Experience preparing well-written and supported professional work products.
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred.
